for as long as i can remember my 2007 car with dsg seemed to 'kangaroo' at slow speed in 1st and 2nd gear, particularly in traffic. just thought was how dsg coped with low revs and choice of gear. now ive found out this has been a know problem with mechatronic unit in vws for which guys in US have had there dsg warranty extended to include up to 10 years. my warranty is expired over a year now, and im debating going to dealer to ask about goodwill gesture to replace mechatronic unit. Has anyone had any joy getting theres replaced without charge after warranty expired??

Have you got a full VW service history? If so give them a shout. If you don't you probably won't get very far with it
Best of luck

What unit is in the Audi, and are you implying the unit was updated after 2007?

The faulty batch seemed to affect late 57 plates and 08 plates, mine was one of them (08 plate) and was replaced under warranty and a further 3 year warranty on DSG box supplied :happy2:

Good news :pomppomp:

Mines replaced under warranty...fingers crossed that it won't happen again

Did you ask for that specifically or was it offered as a matter of course?

i dont want to count my chickens until its actually in the car, but VW have agreed to replace my mechatronics unit. they will cover all parts cost and half labour. result!
-
That's a result. I had mine replaced for similar symptoms in 2009, when my car was a year old. Obviously fine since so here's hoping it was a dodgy batch. Must have been like it for a while though? Mine presented when the car had been driven for 30 mins+.

I can repair the mechatronics units if anyones are out of warranty. :happy2:

i think mine was faulty before i even drove it out of showroom, so i never really new anything was wrong. always just thought dsg box was jerky in 1/2nd gear at low revs and in reverse until mechanic pointed it out 4 years after i bought it!!!!
-
Mine replaced at 2 years old and 13k miles , the car is a 08 ed30 , I am sure I was told it came with a 2 yr warranty as well
-
Mine is still jumpy in reverse, but I can live with that...

I'd love a DSG but this is exactly what puts me off owning one :stupid:

when dsg is going well it is a dream to drive. and definitely quicker than manual. maybe not quite as much fun as manual though
