Today is a sad day, my Porsche is sold. Went for screen price, to a really nice guy. I WILL own another, but need the money for other things. Longest I've ever owned a car, exactly 13 months. Sold my wife's Golf GT last week as well!
I run around in a Sportline Kombi, so I don't need another car, but will be looking at something for the wife, am thinking new Golf GTD with all the toys as per my other thread, however I've been looking at the following this afternoon- Golf R, Ed35, S3, RS3, 1M............

Well at least you have owned one, Oli. I'd feel gutted I reckon but I like to keep a car if I like it.

I'd be heading straight to a 1M....

1M defintely :happy2:

Coming from a 911 I'm not sure practicality is an issue...

Hi, gutting on the Porsche front bit at least you have other avenues to look at. Personally if it's between the golf r and the ed35 then it's hands down the r and between the s3 and rs3 then it's the rs3 I've drove them and for all the hype the rs3 has an awesome engine, with great tuning abilitys but body wise is just to bland IMHO. The ed35 is far to overpriced just for exactly that reason, because it's an ed35. You can go 4wd and have a lot better tuning prospects. Again this is all just my personal opinion and everybody is different but I'd be looking at the ttrs.

You can't go from RWD to FWD, or even worse fake4WD haldex. I tried and lasted a couple of years at best. They're hugely fun, but ultimately unrewarding.
Maybe asking for an opinion on anything except a VAG car on a VAG biased forum isn't the best idea??

Either car is win in my opinion.
Got to be between the RS3 and 1M though, them 2 are in a different league to the other 3.

Completely agree. My Porsche wasn't an everyday car, it was a weekend toy. This new car is for my wife to run the children about in, I have a Sportline Kombi. I think I'm going to order her a GTD, and remap it. I'll get another toy in a couple of years or so
