Hi - I'm hoping this is the place to find out if there's anyone who can do a canbus gateway update for me.

I have a 55 plate Golf with an RNS 510 (original). I bought new maps (2011) online when the original disc became too damaged to run.
I had to update the firmware - it seemed to be working ok but the unit regularly plays up now - often it will read the map but only an hour into a journey after several ejects! I just want the problem sorted. Unsure whether its just dodgy disc copies, but it sounds like, from what I've read here I need a gateway update. have found OEMretrofits -but there seems to be mixed feedback on here. THE RNS 510 also seems to get hotter now?

I've also enquired with VW in Northampton about a gateway update - but hate the main stealsers - is there a chance they'll be funny about the DIY firmware upgrade?

Any help or advice much appreciated - is there anyone you'd recommend in the Northampton area?
