Smart looking motor, I like that  :happy2:

I'm impressed with a roaded' 228hp. How's it drive now compared to standard - how much sharper is the torque response out of interest?
Looking at this engine with similar mods as a next buy  :happy2:

Cheers all

The Stage2+ 228 Map is far to smokey for road use, its for 1/4 Mile only, The stage 2 is smokey aswell.

Title: Re: AndrewJB's MK2 Leon FR TDI "Der Rote Baron"
Post by: AndrewJB on April 09, 2012, 07:52:41 pm
The only think putting me off one of the kits was the fact it used the 312mm dics, which IMHO are to small for 18" wheels

Porsche Calipers + 345mm discs would be ace
Title: Re: AndrewJB's MK2 Leon FR TDI "Der Rote Baron"
Post by: Tfsi_Mike on April 09, 2012, 07:57:24 pm
Mine are 350mm mate  :happy2:  with 996tt calipers.  I used to have the 312mm kit and it was very very good for a number of reasons but the bigger kit is ace

**EDIT

You'll see alot of reference on here tho the NQSBBK - Its the "Not Quite So Big Brake Kit" that uses the 312mm & Boxter caliper, plenty of threads on here  :happy2:

What offset? I needed a 3mm spacer with TD Pro race 1.2 ET45 I think mine are

*edited post above ref NQSBBK

Dunno i dont understand wheel offsets hence why ive never changed wheels
Title: Re: AndrewJB's MK2 Leon FR TDI "Der Rote Baron"
Post by: Tfsi_Mike on April 09, 2012, 08:06:23 pm

As far as I understand a lower offset will give you more clearance inside the wheel and between wheel & shock but will stick out more

For example

OEM Cupra wheels were ET51

New wheels are ET45 so poke out 6mm more but give 6mm more room inside  :happy2:

Somebody correct me if Im miles off

Got a quiet knocking from front / front left atm too.  Had new top mounts, arb bushes, track rod ends, console bushes.

Theres a subframe bolt replacement discussed on here that Im going to try.

With wheel clearance, you can have an et30 wheel that has less clearance at the back of the spokes than an et50.  All really depends on the style of the wheel.

I suspect you would need ay least a 10mm spacer to get the btcc wheels over the 996t calipers.  There should be loads of arch clearance to allow a good size spacer.

I bought the TTRS / RS3 ones thinking they would be stiffer rubbers but turned out to be identical to my cupra ones, I think they are an upgrade for you though.  User: "The Bruce" would be able to confirm

Im getting ground control adjustable top mounts  :innocent:

I can get you the p/n for the topmounts if you like?

il speak to Dave Hawthorne tommorow last time i asked about top mounts they where on back order

ECS Bolts cheapest option firstly though, that might solve the problem

well im hoping its just the Subframe bolts that are causing it

But if its not then i can wait  :happy2: its been knocking for nearly 2 years , would the Cupra ones offer me anything extra even if they arent broke

I believe they have stiffer rubbers which would give a firmer feel, better response etc

Andy, with my AP brakes, They just about fit ok with the ET45 Pro-race I had, but need spacers for the ET54 BTCC wheels. I have a 10mm, but thats more than enough space.

So..... Ive been pondering for a while replacing this car, Couple of reasons why! Firstly i do about 12 miles a day which doesn't really warranty a Diesel, Even at a proven 230bhp the car needs more power, Looked long and hard at the Garrett GTB2260VK kit but im abit worried that the car will be unreliable if i was to push it to 270-300bhp, And the problem is its my daily driver.

My Good friend Graeme (BIGG Addicted) informed me he was selling up the other day, Me and Graeme have been through it all with regards to the DPF Deleting on these PD170's and then it got me thinking..... Can i afford a Cupra

So ive put a deposit down today.............on a MK2 Leon Cupra R

Big problem ive got now is getting this car back to standard... its hardly an easy job, Most of the parts off this car will be fitted onto the LCR with the exception of the EGR and DPF Equipment
