BSB at Thruxton this weekend. Anyone going?
-
Unfortunately not although I am going to the MotoGP to Jerez in 2 weeks :jumping:
Also got the Silverstone MotoGP booked and Oulton Park, Donnington and possibly Cadwell Park BSB sorted too. I don't mind a bit of bike racing as you can tell
Matt
-
Sounds like you are a bit hardcore Matt.
-
.
Earlier this evening I watched the BSB @ Brands Hatch on ITV4. Wet and dangerous but very enjoyable close racing.
-
Bikes are mad Robin and well worth the watch. I started very young.
"Love the smell of Castrol R in the morning, smells like victory to me."
-
^^^^
Castrol R takes me back to the car racing in the 1960's! Glorious smell - Much better than Chanel No5.
-
Sounds like you are a bit hardcore Matt.
Yeah I absolutely love bikes and bike racing, followed it for years! You heading to Thruxton Hedge?!
Must admit I'm going to miss the 2 stroke 125's in the World Championship, the Moto3 just doesn't seem the same but time will tell

What do you think of the Moto3 bikes so far then? Hedge must like them, they sound a bit like an old fighter plane. And how was Jerez? It looked good on TV, especially Moto2
It is sad seeing the state of Rossi and the Ducati, but good to see that Stoner isn't walking it, so far at least.

To be honest, I think they will take a bit of getting used to. One thing I do like about Moto 3 is Romano Fenati, he's a serious talent! I won money on him at Qatar and at Jerez
Jerez was good thanks, A lot wetter than it looked mind! Some brilliant racing in all 3 classes and some brilliant nightlife on Jerez main street on Saturday night! Good to see Cal Crutchlow doing so well too. Hopefully he can keep it up for the rest of the season
As for Rossi, there are so many rumours out there you don't know what to believe. I don't know what he'll do next year because if he wants to ride a Yamaha he will have to be on either the factory bike or with Tech 3, he cant buy his own and start a team.
I can see Spies being dropped then either Crutchlow or Dovizioso taking his place allowing Smith to move up from Moto 2, as for Rossi though, who knows where he'll go?! Dare I say WSB and start his own team there?!
Either way, things are shaping up for a great season

Anyone following this year's Isle Of Man TT?
I missed Sunday's Superbike race bought just caught it on iPlayer ITV4. Watched the Supersport race last night on ITV4. :notworthy: :notworthy:
-
Yep I am
Was good to see Michael Dunlop win a race, even though he has no mechanical sympathy what so ever! Quite a big fan of his after what he's been through. It's a shame Ian Hutchinson and Connor Cummins aren't fully fit again this year, would have been good to see them up there. Same with Guy Martin, just can't seem to get it together for a full race
Hopefully the weather improves soon and they can run the Senior race

Yes please.

Not a very flattering pic of Azi Fami but she's very cute and a great interviewer - Bubbly personality.

whats peoples thoughts about rossi going bk then ??? can he fall bk in to his old shoes ?????
-
Rossi @ Ducati was always the dream partnership but obviously not a winning combination.
I think he's gone back because he wants to win again.

Two characters mate - that's all it is. Doesn't really save you that much time...

Text speak isn't really tolerated round here - it only confuses the older members (Red Robin).

i reckon rossi will bag some wins now he's back on his Yam. I don't think he will win the championship but i think he will run either Pedrosa or J-LO close if everyone stays fit and healthy. I have mixed emotions about Moaner not being there, glad the whinging Aussie has slung his hook but sad that now Rossi is back on quality machinery that he can't get in his head again and give him some whuppings :fighting:

When is the first race? Qatar?
-
middle of April i think.
WSBK starts this coming Sunday (early hours as it's from Philip Island)
*edit* Moto GP kicks off on the 7th April
-
Well gentlemen, The Doctor is back.....in style. Good to see that he hasn't lost the appetite or ambition that won him so many world championships. Roll on Texas :happy2:
-
Congrats to Marquez. Youngest ever premier class winner. Took Freddie Spencer's record.
Well done to Cal too. Can't wait to hear god save the queen with him perched on the top step. (Hopefully at Silverstone in Aug).
-
Watching the BSB at Cadwell Park earlier, those guys have some massive balls going over the Mountain
Not this years I know but you get the picture
-
Anyone watch qualifying........? Crazy last few minutes
-
Marc Marquez's unintentional dismount in qualifying was apparently clocked at 209.9mph. So he's got his first record - the fastest ever crash in the top class of motorcycle racing. His airbag suit recorded two peaks of 25g, but the true impact may have been higher - that's as high as the datalogging reads!
I hope he's not the next Simoncelli, but he's (nearly) as exciting to watch.
They're all :stupid:

Did anyone see Bradders's finger?

Now that's nasty :sad1: i hope they patch him up to be 100% again
-
Skin graft job i've heard.
He lives about 10 miles away from me. My uncle has done a fair bit of welding for him, mainly pit boards.

Me and my wife drove down to Florence last week in my Audi TTS Roadster. It was one of the best driving experiences I have ever had. After an overnight stop in Dijon, most of the rest of the way was with the top down, via the St Bernard tunnel, lovely weather and stunning scenery. Another overnight in Rapallo and on to Florence to meet up with my son and his girlfriend who came down from Munich, and my daughter and her partner who flew over.
Whilst the intention of this was a stay in a villa in Florence with my family, the main reason for me was a trip, with my son, to Mugello to watch the MGP. If you are reading this, you will know the results by now. But I would like to say that this is a trip that is well worth doing, both for the journey itself, and the atmosphere at Mugello. :notworthy:
I was as gutted as everyone else there when Rossi crashed three bends in, not the best birthday present I have ever had, but it was a good race anyway, particularly as Lorenzo won. Unfortunate that Marqes crashed whilst in a safe second place, with only a couple of laps to go, but it gave Crutchlow a still well deserved podium. Redding winning Moto2 was great too, in practice one of his pit boards had said "breathe" and in the race it said "want it." I think he did! :congrats:
Driving, or should that be fighting, with the Italians is an experience itself, it certainly adds spice to the trip. Florence is worth a visit, as is Pisa and Lucca, but, to use the word that the commentator used to describe Crutchlow, MotoGP at Mugello is " fantastico" If you are a bike race fan, and enjoy driving, this trip is a must. Give it a go.

Sounds Amazing Tony :notworthy:
Ill be in Italy in 4wks.
Yeah I'd drive to Firenze but there's Nooo way I'd drive my pride n joy over to Rome where my sis lives. :surprised: :driver:
Anyway it'll be another beach holiday in Sardinia! Can't wait.
MGP: couldn't believe Rossi getting wiped out. :jumping:
....and Marquez? Poor lad. He has a very bright future IMO.
-
Cal on Pole!!!!!!!!!!!
:jumping: :jumping:

Was a good race, good to see vale back on top, I do love to watch Marquez :notworthy:

Was a really good race!
Just booked Weekend General Admission and Camping for Silverstone. Guaranteed paddock passes for one of the days though (from a mate) which should be good, haven't been in the Moto GP paddock since Donington 08. Those were the days.
I just hope its dry, but then again Silverstone isn't Silverstone without a splash of rain. Last year it was mega windy and our gazebo must have lasted all of five minutes before it decided to mount itself on the Polo.
Anyone else going?
-
I normally do qualifying, although i don't really like silverstone
-
I'll be there from Thursday Morning until Monday Afternoon, always am, our lads holiday every year
Had it booked since the Bike Show at the NEC last year
We've slowly got better and better each year, first year we went was the last year at Donnington, we messed about with tents in the wind and rain and a small car and all that stuff. Now we have an 11reg Transporter at our disposal (my mates work van) full of food and drink towing a 4 berth caravan, flags, cameras, a push bike each and as of this year we've made a pushbike trailer to carry the daily essentials rather than carrying them off the side of the bike. All that for one trip to Silverstone and about 5 BSB Rounds a year
Keep an eye out for us, we'll probably have a few flags attached to the trailer when were biking round
Are you in the Woodlands Campsite?!
Matt
-
Wow Matt I am very jealous indeed!
Yes we are in the infamous Woodlands, I remember a good old scrap last year between some Welsh and English lads, it was better than television. Entertainment they said.
Last year we went in my first car, Polo 9n 1.2. However I'm a bit jubious about taking the Golf this year as its absolutely immaculate inside and I know it won't stay that way. Anal I know, but etto.
I wanted to hire a van and just lob a mattress in the back but not a single company will touch me being only 19. We'll see what happens, probably just do as we did last year and just leave the 30 quid tent all pitched and drive off, lol.
I'll have to keep an eye out for you. Crutchlow/Simoncelli/Redding/Smith/Rossi flags?

Bang in the middle of our racing season now. Went to Oulton Park BSB a couple of weeks ago then VW Festival the next weekend then went down to Cadwell BSB on Friday night and just got back at 11:30pm last night. Quickly clean the caravan out tonight then off to Silverstone on Thursday Morning, back from there on Monday then on the Friday going to Donnington BSB for the full weekend aswell, busy time!
Cadwell was awesome, brilliant weather on race day and every race was brilliant with plenty of action. Sat at the bottom of the Mountain for 9 1/2 hours yesterday. Great to see Alex Lowes do the double at his home race!
Roll on Thursday Morning for Silverstone now, can't wait
PS.... If anyone has a spare 5mins, go on YouTube and watch some videos of Josh Brooke's going over the Mountain at Cadwell Park, absolutely astounding :notworthy: :notworthy:

I'm going on Friday to Silverstone.
Not sure what to expect but just going to mooch around and enjoy the day. :happy2:
-
Spent the weekend at Silverstone with paddock passes.
Absolutely fantastic weekend. Met and got photos with Cal, Brad, Scott Redding, Steve Parish among others.
Hearing god save the queen for the podium of the Moto 2 race sent shivers down my spine, the buzz around the place was amazing.
-
Just got home now, god that was good!
Absolutely brilliant weekend, every race was a good battle and there was plenty of action throughout the weekend. Woodlands Campsite was brilliant as always, last night in the pub was brilliant as we're both the bands on Friday and Saturday
Oh, and I backed all 3 winners so won a little bit of money too
Quickly get the caravan cleaned out and packed up again then off to Donnington for the weekend on Friday
MK5DOM...... Don't suppose you saw our push bike trailer did you?! Sound like you had a brilliant weekend, very jelous of your Pit Pass
