Does anyone know why I've got one of these (not standard):
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi1188.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fz418%2FGTi72%2FDSC_1264.jpg&hash=1aee9fb0ff83ebd20628954118b1b56a912bcc4a)
When I've only got one of these (very standard):

Perhaps the last owner fitted a different aerial for aesthetics.
-
several possibilities:
Car had Factory sat nav and last owner sold the nav
Car has a Factory phone kit
Car has Auxiliary heating
last owner changed the whip antenna to the shark fin
-
shark fin is used for phone prep and sat nav on the 8P. if you have either (or both) of those you'll have a sharkfin. i'd imagine it's the same on the Golf, so i'm guessing you have phone prep?
-
Run the option codes on the white sticker in the boot through one of the online checkers and it will confirm if the car was/is factory fitted with phone prep, sat nav or aux heating

Excellent, thanks for that sub39h. :happy2:
I do have a cradle for what looks like some sort of prehistoric Nokia phone. I think I need to get this removed.

8ZH Antenna for AM/FM reception, "diversity"
Found it on google as required for mobile phone or nav, but no code for nav on the sticker or aux heating, so must be for phone.

That's a good idea Thor. Would that be an OEM part?

There's no model number on it, but the piece of plastic clips off to reveal a connection with the red triange on it with some letters
-
Thanks for that Thor. Did this clip into the existing cradle then?

Yes it did Ian, you released the phone cradle adapter and plugged the bluetooth module into the same connectors.
-
VW does a similar thing for the older phone kit called the bluetooth touch adapter :happy2:

Great, thanks Steve, I'll get a price for that and see if it's worth doing until I can source a reasonable RNS510 with bluetooth.
