Title: Akoya A3 S line.
Post by: S800BRN on April 15, 2012, 06:08:56 pm
Hi peeps! Today saw me get rid of the VXR - never really gelled with it. Great car but jut something missing for me.
In a rare bout of sense I decided to go for an A3 8p sportback, S Line 140. FSH, 1 previous owner.
Really chuffed with the pescaras (or whatever the Audi equivalent is called), got some cosmetic tweaks planned but not much.
Couple of pics

Had the R32 for 3 weeks (was away for 2 of those) and had the VXR after that. I do like a change!!

nice... Akoya Silver?

the wheels don't have a name, they're just called "14-spoke alloy wheels". they're a little different to Pescaras (ET 54 instead of ET51 and they're not that smoked colour the Pescaras are)

That looks nice, how come a change to a diesel?
So it's you that had the white K1. Seen that around with your number plate in Huddersfield.

I'm sure it will do you well for however long you keep it chap   :happy2:

Just fancied a total change. Nice looking car and cheap to run. Be a change of pace for sure.
Don't mention the plate. Sold the K1 on the understanding the new owner would put my plate on retention for me. Never happened. Stopped answering all calls, texts, emails!!

Yeah, Akoya. Should be relatively easy to keep clean.
I'll prob change the colour of the wheels for a bit of contrast against the paintwork.

Black grille today. Looks better I think. Once my mirrors are changed and wheels done to tie it all together I'll be happier.

No, Mike. eBay specials - took a punt on them when I had the GTI and was amazed at the quality of them. Great fitment.
Whole housings rather than covers too.

Yeah same design as the Pescaras/CH/VZ etc, know what I mean  :happy2:

That would look great - silver lip perhaps? I think Monte had a similar design on his silver ED30 and it looked superb IMO.

I prob won't run a lip as I find it makes the wheels look smaller. Thought so with the CH reps I ran on the K1 anyhoo.
19s pull off a lip much better but I think 18s are better suited to the A3 (or any of the mk5 platform)

Probably true although you're low enough to get away with it. On standard springs, it's certainly a sin.

ok so today I took my wheels to The Wheel Specialist for a refurb and colour change.
Went for the same day service. Drop car off - they remove tyres, acid dip, coat, bake, clear coat, bake, tyres back on and balanced! (probably more to it aswell) Anyway, I   decided to go Anthracite - glad I did, think it ties in the mirrirs and black grille.
usual iPhone snaps. No editing though.

Not a bad shine considering it was only a wash and dry. Werkstatt must still be doing it's job after the last coat.
Also got booked into Rood for more wrapping action next week.
