Title: Service help, sorry lol
Post by: nathangallo on April 15, 2012, 10:35:56 pm
I know this has probably been covered so many times now but just need to bottom this out once and for all.

It's going to be my 60k service so what are the requirements and also things you suggest

I have a couple of people in mind to do the work one being a vw specialist and one a good friend who rents a unit off my dad. So need to tell them what I want done.

Thanks in advance guys  :congrats: :happy2:

All depends what the car has had in previous services really.

If you have just bought it or never had it serviced best to do the lot that way you know it's def been done and nit just had a service book ticked in correct places lol
Oil and filter (using best oil you can afford) , pollen filter , air filter , fuel filter and spark plugs replaced
Make sure the timing belt has def been done

Are the timing belts easy to do on a Mk5 GTI as I have a lad who's a mechanic who used to do mine charge £100 labour if I bought parts. But I want Awesome GTI to do my service etc, and they charge £420 for the Cambelt.

Is it worth getting my mate to do it? He did do my 130 PD GT TDI MK4 and my Mazda 6 Sport belt.
