To get a power increases, the basics are............
- Mapping
- Exhaust
- Turbo
from what I have read?
I'm tempted to have it mapped, but from what I have read the GT turbos are not the strongest. Am I likely to end up with a blown turbo?
-
the turbos on the gttdi are save up to 200bhp make sure you go to a rep tuner :happy2:
-
Mines got 90k on the clock.
Tuner wise, would be Midlands VW - do all my servicing etc.
They SEEEM to know there stuff...
-
before you get a map make sure the clutch is good as well
-
Will be a brand new one buddy. OEM Lux or Sash think it is. Being done next week (Clutch, dual mass everything)
Its not some £1500+ performance clutch
-
that will be fine-am on the oem clutch and i have had 4 custom maps,am running revo version of a oem map at the mo but going to get the full version with the sp box to switch between the 2
-
4 maps..........?
I thought a map was a map so to speak. It would get the peak settings of air, fuel etc. - unless you upgrade parts surely there is only so far you can got on a map regardless of who you go to?
-
the first map was by chipped uk but it made my car over fuel alot,so went to awesome and got their map on only for the turbo to go on there rollers(they did tell me the turbo was on its way)--- Also had pdt mapon for a year---then a r tech map Then last year my car started to chuck out blue smoke and chucking oil out of the exhaust in a big way ,so Trev of here took it to Alan and got the map removed to see if it was that--wuld go back to r tech but its a 2 hr drive for me
-
MMmmmm so you had good/bad results.........?
who do you most favour then? and why?
-
pdt map was good and very smooth and he is only a hour up the road
r-tech where the same as above but over a 2hr dive thou
Going revo as i want to keep the map its got on :happy2:
-
I had my gt170 tdi mapped by chris at cc-tuning...end results where 203bhp and loads of torque
-
approx pricing guys?
-
the custom map i have had are all about the£150 mark
the revo stock map for free :signLOL:
-
Coool.
Want bit more power, but don't want massive problem bills in the future......so think my way forward would be the basics...
- Exhaust, induction, re-map.
Anything else?
-
better brakes i found :signLOL:
-
On that.........
just trying to find some GTI carriers
-
:happy2:

Better off getting a complete GTi front set up mate, I got a complete set up (front and rear) from another member, just fitted the discs and carriers, the rears have been refurbed and fitted on my vRS to match the S3 fronts. :happy2:
The GT140 is mapped by Shark, the difference between that and stock is massive, power delievery is very linear and almost common rail like, and it pulls well in to the red line whereas before it died at 3500 revs. Mine is done via the STS unit as Shark HQ is over 400 miles away, although there are a few dealers elsewhere - W8 Performance and GNJ Motorsport to name a couple.
