Title: GT TDI
Post by: Johnny_tro on April 16, 2012, 09:39:06 pm
To get a power increases, the basics are............

- Mapping
- Exhaust
- Turbo

from what I have read?

I'm tempted to have it mapped, but from what I have read the GT turbos are not the strongest. Am I likely to end up with a blown turbo?

Will be a brand new one buddy. OEM Lux or Sash think it is. Being done next week (Clutch, dual mass everything)

Its not some £1500+ performance clutch

4 maps..........?

I thought a map was a map so to speak. It would get the peak settings of air, fuel etc. - unless you upgrade parts surely there is only so far you can got on a map regardless of who you go to?

the first map was by chipped uk but it made my car over fuel alot,so went to awesome and got their map on only for the turbo to go on there rollers(they did tell me the turbo was on its way)--- Also had pdt mapon for a year---then a r tech map Then last year my car started to chuck out blue smoke and chucking oil out of the exhaust in a big way ,so Trev of here took it to Alan and got the map removed to see if it was that--wuld go back to r tech but its a 2 hr drive for me

Coool.

Want bit more power, but don't want massive problem bills in the future......so think my way forward would be the basics...

- Exhaust, induction, re-map.

Anything else?

Better off getting a complete GTi front set up mate, I got a complete set up (front and rear) from another member, just fitted the discs and carriers, the rears have been refurbed and fitted on my vRS to match the S3 fronts.  :happy2:

The GT140 is mapped by Shark, the difference between that and stock is massive, power delievery is very linear and almost common rail like, and it pulls well in to the red line whereas before it died at 3500 revs.  Mine is done via the STS unit as Shark HQ is over 400 miles away, although there are a few dealers elsewhere - W8 Performance and GNJ Motorsport to name a couple.
