Title: how should i mount my front numberplate?
Post by: sub39h on April 18, 2012, 07:59:42 pm
bought a set of pressed plates from Dubmeister. got some vaguely OEM looking surrounds for them off eBay too

but the plate in the surround is too big for my front numberplate plinth (as in it hangs off the bottom), which is a shame. also my plinth is grey which looks odd against the black plate holder. thinking about mounting the plate with magnets/sticky tape instead but i quite like the black surround... decisions decisions.

what are ppl's opinions:

No surround at all. To bulky with the size of the plate.  :happy2:

Is the number plate plinth removalbe like it is on the golf? thats how i fitted my surround as it looked silly sticking out so far on a double mount

Mine is tapped on mate hasn't budged at all.. When you take the other plate off give the recess a good clean free from all the sh*t that has built up get some number plate tape cheep as chips on eBay. Put the tape all over the plate don't be shy then eat it up with a hair dryer until the glue goes soft hold it on the plate holder on the car for a few mins and sorted looks the nuts

I bought some Sellotape Velcro strips from asda. Got 5 sections holding my narrow plate on. Works like a charm and you can swap show plates/remove plate easily for cleaning without the need for new sticky pads.
