pity that very few of my vehicle based diagnostic / mapping / software editing tools work with Mac products :fighting:

i made the switch a couple of years ago after stupidly tolerating IBM machines for years, never looked back
once you get used to the environment its just slick as anything, plus you can run windows through your mac if you need to anyway :happy2:
-
windows through a mac, thats an idea. s it still as buggy and glitchy as 'normal' windows though?
-
there are mac guru's on here that can anwer it much better than me, i'm obviously a graphic designer so the mac and me (see what i did there ) are made for each other... i dont run windows and have no need to anymore as the mac and the software optimised for it are enough ie photoshop and the like
i think you have to do some sort of partitioning - steve p did explain it to me once, but i fell asleep

Firstly get Parallels so that you can run a VM for windows. I use it for ETKA, ElsaWin and VCDS. It works within OSX and if you run in coherence mode it makes it run pretty much natively. You can use bootcamp which comes with OSX but you have to select which OS you want to run at startup.
Everything else you will learn as you go. You can find most of the shortcuts either in the help files on the MBP or here:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1343?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
However for copy and paste:
CMD+A = Select All
CMD+C = Copy
CMD+V = Paste
Also if you hold CMD you can select multiple files by left clicking
Also to select a range (say from a list) Left click first file, scroll to last file in the range, Hold shift and left click last file and this will auto select all the files between the 2
In the System Preferences App you will see a search box in the Top Right corner. If you can't find what your looking for you can type the windows name of it in there and it will highlight the correct option for you.
If you need anything else give the F.A.G a shout
Hope that all makes sense :happy2:

To enable right click -
System Prefs / Track Pad (or Mouse) / Point & Click / Secondary Click.
That should enable right click with a two finger tap on the Track Pad.

As Carl says the best option is Parallels which seamlessly integrates with Mac OSX and allows you to use both platforms at the same time on the same screen.
This is the cheapest I know of -

Do you have any other iDevices??

Welcome to Macdom, PDT :happy2:
The bottom line is that any crashed computer, whether running Windows or Mac operating system, is only as valuable as a stone. And, like cars, computers can go wrong occasionally.
However, the Mac OS is far more intuitive to use and both hardware and software much more enjoyable and logical. There will be a learning curve and you may have to run an emulation program so you can still use some of your specialist software which won't run on a Mac, but as FAG Carl and VC say, it's all do-able. Stu knows his stuff too.
It won't be too long before you start to forget your Windows habits and wonder why you didn't move to Apple products sooner. Windows work, but Macs work better!
My daughter has been brought up using both Windows (at school) and Macs (at home) and when I offered to buy her a laptop to use at uni and asked her which she wanted, I received a very disgusted look and the answer that it was a no-brainer - Mac of course!

Ive done that, works for me! you have to buy/"find" windows though.

You have to have a copy of Windoze for Parallels. The beauty with Parallels is no need to have only one OS Running.
Like this for running in a separate Window

In Coherence mode it runs as if native to OSX
