Title: Cambelt change
Post by: Baz300 on April 19, 2012, 10:48:29 pm
I'm away to look at a 2006 gti it's only got 38000 miles but the cambelt has never been changed

I will be getting it done as soon as I get the car home, but it's a 200 mile drive home.

Would I be safe enough driving with a cambelt that's been on for 6 years as its due at 4?

you should be fine mate i bought one with 50k on the clock and its a 2005 and it had never had a cb change. just make sure you get it done as soon as you get back just incase. these belts can be known to go for like 100k but, 100% not worth the risk on leaving it any later.

I brought my 2005 gti with 64k on the clock a couple weeks back without the cambelt being done by the previous owner, as you can imagine it was a nervous drive back but I made it and booked it in for the following day! :rolleye:
