Title: Oil usage post 'hoon'
Post by: Diplomat on April 20, 2012, 04:26:32 pm
Hi Guys,

Found that my oil level dropped from the max to near minimum mark on the dipstick after a 270 mile motorway journey - which included at the end of it 2-3 hours of "mild" hooning (by hooning, I mean just a little play on some b-roads and sticking to the speed limits - so more so sharp acceleration).

Car is remapped stage 1.

Does this sound like excessive oil usage?

Typically the oil doesn't move that much (though I only do 5k miles p.a.).

Thanks

iirc you need a litre to go from minimum to max so on that basis you are using too much oil.

VW stipulate 600 miles/litre is acceptable.

Thanks - I'll keep an eye on it.

I've been reading various threads via. google and it seems the GTI can be very thirsty on the oil, especially during warmer temps...
