Title: Long Shot!

Right my mates caddy goes to start but cuts the starter motor off in like a second  :stupid:
and at the same time on the dash it says safe!

Will anyone know what this means just thought it might be similar to something on the golf! :signLOL: :smiley:

the immo is kicking in, has it had any work lately? if not then it could be the cluster has gone down and needs repair

the immobiliser, does he have a 2nd key he could try also?

i thought it was the immobilizer! as it sounds gineric to most immobilizer fault

he spoke to vw and they said the battery in the key has gone so wont turn off the immobiliser! :signLOL:

so not an expensive job  :smiley:

I didn't think the immob chip needed power?  Sort of like the RFID tags they use to catch shoplifters...

Is the right answer

They don't, it's more than likely a cluster fault, since I started workin at a garage that do breakdown/recovery cluster failure is a very common sight, normally a code read will confirm this

All done my mate had an engineer out changed the battery and reset the immobiliser and Haypresto she started.
