Title: Airbag Warning Light

This came on as I was savouring the delights of the A39 between Barnstaple & Lynmouth on Saturday afternoon. Just says 'Airbag fault' on ignition.

I've looked at previous threads, and they seem to suggest it's most likely to be due to under-seat wiring. Will VagCom show where the problem is? Any experiences of how this has been previously fixed would be most appreciated.

VCDS will tell you roughly where it is, yes.

I had it not once until I changed the seats. I chopped the plug from the under seat loom and soldered it (as per the VW bulletin on this) and no issue since after clearing the fault.

It could be other problems also, but see what a scan brings up.

I've done that fix as well. Easy to do.

Basically  Unplug the airbag sensor wire that comes out of the floor near the front of your seat.Undo the passenger seat (Its always the passenger seat) unplug the multiplug thats attached to the seat base running from the plug you have already disconnected at the floor and then basically bypass the plug and socket by soldering the wires together in the order they were connected to via the plug. Get a diagnostic tool ( doesn't have to be VagCom) to clear the fault and then forget about it.

I did it 18 months ago and its been ok ever since.
