Any way what would you pick grip and noise wise?? Both same price!!!

I'd use the search mate. This has been done to death on here and jus about every forum out there
-
I'd save yourself about 30-40 quid a corner and look at Pirelli P Zero Rosso assymetrics.
Absolutely brilliant in the wet or dry, amazing grip and not too noisy either. :happy2:

Goodyears :happy2: Great tyre

Goodyears :happy2: Great tyre
Same here, just fitted Goodyear Eagle F1's to mine and they have much better grip than my last tyres which were Conti Sports (albeit they were SC2's). In fact I'd say the Goodyears are the best tyres I've had, great performance in the wet and dry :happy2:.
-
I've used the search button and looked through, but I wanted to know what the noise was like aswell as the golfs seem to suffer worse than other cars.
Also the reviews seem to change from year to year conti just won the evo test came really low last time, yet same tyre.

Goodyears = FANTASTIC :happy2:
Use tyre-shopper to get the cheapest fitted price (I paid £127.50 per corner FITTED for 18's)

I've had mine on two months and no road noise :happy2:

Goodyear F1's. Had a set fitted about a month ago and IMO they are very good. Camskill online, about £540 delivered for 225 40 R18 Y92, get your local fitter to do the rest.
:happy2:

Had a look at that tyre fitter site £128.50 fitted for a Toyo T1S (Which I swear by, been using them happily since 2006, they were T1R before), camskill just charge me £194.58 for a pair of them shipped (Inc VAT), my local indy charges me £25 inc VAT for fitting 2 tyres, saves you nearly £40 doing it that way.
I just placed on order for 2 more T1R to replace the budget rears that have been on the car since i bought it and are still both pretty new but I would like matching tyres :happy2:, will likely stick the odd cheapos on ebay to get rid of them.

I've had a pair fitted since jan & they where good...even better with the WALK fitted

Camskills say only £2 difference per tyre. I had half thought of going with Goodyear's new F1 tyre once my Toyo T1R's wear out but I think I'll wait and see what the verdict is in 4-5 monthd time. :happy2:

I have goodyear assy2 atm and they i think they are really good. £220 fitted from a friend ;) for the pair.
-
I just orderd 4x Goodyear eagle f1 's from camskills
£465 for 225/40/18 92y
With them and the pilot sports both being rated so good I went for the cheaper option

Goodyears available here https://lovetyres.com/basket (https://lovetyres.com/basket)
If going for the Contis make sure you don't get the Mercedes Only versions. These have MO on the sidewalls.

Yep been looking on love tyres beat prices but I have a friend who will get me them little dearer but I would rather his company get the money.
I was swaying towards conti's being European an all but every one hear seems made up with Goodyear. Conti just got voted best Goodyear came 3rd in a recent test yet last year Goodyear hammered the rest.
All seems very up and down with magazines tests and online verdicts good to here real world thoughts.
Conti's are ment to be the quietest lol.

Have a search for the EVO mag tyre test, thet used their long termed MK5 GTI and the goodyear's came out top :happy2:
That's what persuaded me :notworthy:
-
I saw that article when researching what to get.
Think may go with goodyears now, I hope there not a big profile they will be going on my 18x8.5 hope they don't rub.

Here is the lastest test
http://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2012-Auto-Bild-Max-Performance-Tyre-Test.htm
I'm running the Asymmetric 2 and managed 16,000 from the fronts.

Just bought a pair of Goodyear Eagle F1 assy 2s for the front of mine, only 17s but at £233 all in fitted via blackcircles I'm not complaining. One done 100 miles so far and most of that in the wet and they have been grippy from the off, so get my thumbs up so far. Also haven't thought about the road noise so must be good :happy2:
-
Just had 2 GY E F1s fitted today to replace the budgets that were on my wheels when I bought them & there is a massive reduction in noise!

Is it normal for new tyres to lose presseure, settling in and wot not? Had four PZeros fitted at the weekend and noticed when i came home this morning they looked a little deflated. Check the tyre pressure's and sure enough they had all dropped from 2.6bar to 2.3bar. I noticed this on my way home from the fitters on sat afternoon and had to pump up the tyres. Never had this issue before. I also noticed the PZero's dont offer much in the way of rim protection on the wheel, the tyre wall sits flush with the wheel, where the conti sp3's before stretched over the wheel rim nice and snug.
-
Some tyres have a wider profile than others even in the same size which is what I was also looking at as don't want the wheels to rub as there8.5j.
So it's normal depending on make, tyres going down I would say its not beaded on properly you could try pumping them up to 40 psi see if it seats better then let back down.

I understand that 'MO' stands for Mercedes Option not Mercedes Only. The only difference with the MO tyre is that it has more rim protection on the sidewall - as specified by Mercedes Benz. This is a good thing......
