I did something silly with these
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fm575%2Fnezquick%2FIMG-20120421-WA0003.jpg&hash=1d6a2acf1cc472d44a4de1d0c84c9c4f8d3b36b1)
and have ended up with this
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fm575%2Fnezquick%2F2012-04-21173643.jpg&hash=458ec1393ae68a5582565981283c8f625c5a4ec3)
and need to know whether to pull it off or go to a&e.. my finger has swollen up nicely and hurts a fair bit especially if something touches the top
its been two days and still looks deep and a bit.. well.. not pretty.. and im a bit worried about infection..
iv soaked it in tcp and salt water and changed the bandages but there is dirt in under the flap towards the bottom and really dont like the idea of peeling it back to scrub it..
-
oh and the flap goes from the top knuckly (you can see where it pulls away) to the nail (which you cant as its pushed down) which is where the dirt is..
-
Sorry mate I can't help. Looks nasty though.
I think this thread will be moved from the "mk5 general area" though
-
looks like a nasty scratch...
-
Owww...that looks painful!
Sorry don't have any helpful advice for you :ashamed:
-
oh yeah - meant to put it in general chat...
im not gunna lie - im usually really good with these things especially broken bones (many 1st hand experiences) but this actually turns my stomach and ****ing hurts.
-
Just asked my m8, he is a first aided.. he said go to A&E...
-
if it's a puncture wound you'll need antibiotics
if it's just a laceration then irrigation works better at reducing infection rates, but you've already done that with TCP and salt water by the sounds of it
if the swelling starts to track down the finger, then that's a sign of an infection and you need to go to A&E. if the pain has been getting worse over the last 2 days you need to go to A&E.
i assume your tetanus status is all in order? that would be another reason to pop to your local A&E dept
-
A bit of a warning in the subject title might have been nice too!

i would have thought
need opinions on whether this looks bad (not car - injury)
was fairly self explanatory...
-
hmm.. think i might nip down the drop-in centre in that case
the finger is swollen but started swelling straight after the accident so can only presume its a reaction to the wound. Ill wash it again tonight with warm tcp and salt water and then if it doesnt look right tomurrow ill go to the drop-in..
At the moment it looks like its weeping (if you know what I mean) just makes me feel ill when I look at it :rolleye: yup all shots up to date
-
Got a clearer picture?
-
no, sorry that was the only one i took
-
* that was any good
-
Go and get more pictures please, so strangers on the internet can decide whats best. :stupid: by the way i am a doctor. :innocent:
-

-

(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fm575%2Fnezquick%2F2012-04-21165720.jpg&hash=95dd2f9f1040296dab966ecbad5987f00377be02)

-

Amputation is definitely needed there my friend. You can come to my clinic but first you will have to send me some money via bank transfer to pay for preparation costs for the surgery. Can I have your bank account number and sort code please. :happy2:

Fair enough TC!!! How about 50/50 but he comes to my surgery?
-
:ashamed: now i feel silly - it is bloody painful and flappy which is what worried me - honest :innocent: - so just wash it and sticky plaster then
-
Yes mate that will do. (can I still have some money though?) :rolleye:
-
Doesn't look too bad, just keep it clean. Keep it covered if you're doing anything that is likely to get it dirty, but if you're not up to much let the air get to it. From the pic it doesn't look like it needs stitching or glueing IMO. If you're concerned though go to your local walk-in centre if you have one.
-
you can bugger off..
NO MONIES FOR YOU!

Worth a try! :sad1:
-
Ill give it to you, it was worth a try
-
Looks fairly superficial but a pic can only show so much. If you're at the point where you're asking others for help, you should probably go seek medical attention.

thats part of it, the last picture shows with it laying down but more or less flapped out if you pulled it up from the top to the nail but the picture shows it as someone mentioned looking just like a gash rather than the flappy bit it was  Ill give it a few days of washing and keeping clean and then let nature take its course :happy2:
-
Interesting fact as well
hippo's have a special red oil they secrete to help kill germs and heal wounds
-
Beautiful :congrats: this is a funny thread. all this talk about flappy bits :signLOL:
You sure it ain't got nothing to do with Kermet? :signLOL:
