Hello
I've recently noticed that when I turn my car on for the first time since its been standing for a while it will idle above 1k for 2 minutes, it will then suddenly drop at go below 1k. The only reason I ask is because it is very loud for the first minutes, the sound is almost like my exhaust is blowing...
Any thoughts?

Perfectly normal, it's the Auto Choke
The exhaust quietens down when the revs settle.
-
Well that's good to know, thanks!
I guess it's more obvious since fitting 3" decat
-
I noticed mines revving a little higher than normal (on cold starts) after fitting the TWINtake CAI..dies down after 30 seconds or so :happy2:
-
Most, if not all cars will do this - perfectly normal - and probably more noticeable with mods fitted :happy2:
-
Also more noticeable with air-con on. It will rev 100 rpm higher.
-
.
Does it 99 times out of 100 on mine and I always wait for the revs to settle down below 1,000 before engaging reverse from my garage. It avoids any clunks on the DSG.

Thanks guys that's made me feel much better!!

....Now that we've made you feel relaxed and comfortable, we are going to help you spend your money on mods to replace components which worked perfectly well in the first place.

Haha, I wish I could say that I hadn't already started that ;-)
