Title: Brake Seals

Can anyone tell me how hard is it to replace replace the seals on your brakes? MK5's

You can get a repair kits from VW.

Probably easier if you take the calipers off to do it but not essential and then you'll need to bleed them afterwards.

Are the calipers easy enought to break/strip down and put back together? I have basic knowledge........

Two inner seals for the pistons and the outer protective boots.  What makes you think you need to change them?

Was going to refurb my calipers - that all.


From what I can make out, you remove the out seal........then the inside comes out as one complete part.

You can pump the brakes to push out the piston.  You may also need a wind in/out tool.

Thats what Im trying to find out......can;t find anything..............

1. Remove the outer seal
2 Pop out the caliper
3. remove the internal seal


Just want to make sure.....

1. The piston is one complete unit
2. its just on outer an inner seal?
3. is there anything I need to be aware of? or any special too needed?
