just had a new clutch kit and dmf not even 400 miles ago, what i've noticed is the gears are really notchy... the gear stick feels more loose, and I feel resistance when trying to go into first when stopping at a set of lights? all together it just feels wrong, all the gears feel notchy which wasn't like this before the replacement and it kind of feels like the clutch is dragging somtimes maybe? idk, but if anyone has any suggestions as what it could be before I take it back to the garage let me know, thanks

you probably just need your gear linkages either greasing up and/or readjusting...
it shooould be the same on the GTI's as i understand it...

funny thing is I watched that video yesterday.. think it could be anything else?
-
most unlikely to be anything else tbh...
the gear linkage mechanism in the mk5's is stupidly simple... any 'notchiness' your feeling is at the gearbox end... and if it wasnt there before your clutch was changed, i'd hazard a guess that the adjustment wasnt done properly after they put it all back together again....i know mine wasnt...(which was why when he told me to reverse i ended up going forwards and nearly taking out their ramp!)
its really easy to do if your engine bay is laid out anything like it is on my tdi, one little allen bolt and a hose clamp to remove the airbox and you can get to the black cable ends from the top pretty easy, have some of your favourite lube ready to grease the pins after you've done the procedure and you'll notice the difference...after doing mine properly i definitely did!
(oh and make sure the 'pin' you use to lock your gearstick is actually bent at 90degrees or so...i've got a 5mm drill bit floating around inside the transmission tunnel somewhere because i thought friction would hold it...it didnt...lol(
good luck :happy2:
