I have had my car for a couple of months now and I have noticed when I am sitting in the car with the handbrake on there is a slight judder. Is this the engine mounts or an engine issue or is this normal?
(07gti)

Misfiring perhaps?
-
Does it idle ok or does it go up and down the revs abit when stationary?
-
I had the air con fixed at vw recently and bought it from a vw dealer so I thought a misfire would have come up on their diagnostics. Everthing seems pretty good but I have run it on 95 ron  since I bought it. Maybe I should try 98+?
-
The revs seem ok, just a slight murmer and I feel it though the seat.
-
is it a DSG? could be that you have it in D with the handbrake on?
-
sorry, it's a manual
-
Sounds normal to me Gazza. My '07 GTi is a manual and does exactly the same at idle. Every now and again it has a bit of a wobble. Think it's just one of the characteristics of the TFSI engine rather than a fault. I run it on V Power or Tesco Momentum 99 - anything else and it runs like the proverbial bag of spanners!

this :happy2:

Mine only started doing this after a vw dealer changed the cambelt. I'm sure I read somewhere that there is some margin of adjustment when carrying out the change but its often not carried out and results in the slightly rough idle.

Thanks for the replies :happy2:
When i bought the car the cam belt had just been done by vw, was only on 28k miles but was due as it is an 07 plate. Mind you they didn't change the water pump cheeky *****
I will try 98+ fuel for a few fill ups at least to see how things go
