Hey folks ,
after just getting last months pay cheque ive been looking around in earnest for a possible Clutch/Flywheel upgrade solution , been in talks with a few companies but im having a bit of trouble choosing !
Here's what ive came up with so far...
From the lovely guys over at Awesome GTI
Sachs Performance Clutch Kit - £600.00 inc VAT (for use with my existing DMF) , with a fitting cost of £330 , and I could also have a new DMF for around the £300 mark so sum total of - £1230
Sachs Performance Clutch Kit with SMF Conversion - £1,260.00 inc VAT , again with the fitting cost of £330 , so a sum total of £1590
From what I can gather , a Sachs Clutch and DMF together would get me an aprox torque ratting of 350 ft / llb , and obviously the SMF kit would net a larger tolerance for torque.
I've been doing my research , and it seems like Torque is the thing to worry about when it comes to diesel tuning ( do correct me if im wrong ) , well more the thing to worry about when upgrading components anyway.
Next we have the solution provided by the chaps over at DarkSide Developments.
They can offer a Silent SMF solution which im sure a lot of you will of heard about

The Stage 2 Daily Driver variant seems like the most logical choice with its 400 ft / llb torque ratting and was the kit i enquired about.
The cost of this is £1110 with a fitting cost of £240 , giving a sum of £1350.
What im looking for from you lovely chaps is your opinions and views of the kits / companies / manufactures ive mentioned above , and also what your choice would if you were in my position , with a reasoning behind the choice too if possible :)
Hopefully when i can eventually make up my mind , i can fork up some of my hard earned cash and then they real modifications can begin ! im the kinda person who likes to get the foundations nice and solid first but anything else

A southbend I removed from a Leon is up for sale in the for sale section.
The car was running 240bhp and around 350lbft iirc with no issues. Looked brand new on removal so the wear rate is low too.

It does seem like SMF is the way to go , just for reference I have a 04' Mk5 GT TDI (140 ) which is standard at the moment.
Like i mentioned before i want to get the foundations sorted before i start upping the power.
What sort of price should i be looking at for a Southbend clutch ? Do i keep the stock flywheel too or have that replaced also ?
Overall I would like to get my car up to around the 190-200 bhp mark , mostly street driving , with the occasional jaunt up into the countryside.
