Great result for Spurs tonight. I like Bolton but I can't help but feel that tonight was it for them. I'd have preferred them over Wigan to stay up, but it looks like the great escape again for the Latics.
Well there is only one SJP and its not in newcastle :signLOL:
I own a football league club, who else on here can say that???

^^^^ oh yeah, forgot that goal. Always rated the tall fella, wherever he has gone he has scored goals. Bloody Good record for England too, just doesn't look like a football player should (if you know what I mean).

Hang on, a minute, Crouch's was lucky?, one touch/turn and it flies into top corner from outside the box?, yet Cisse's goal was better as he just hit (and hoped) and it swerved in, at least I am being unbiased here voting for someone outside my own team :signLOL: :signLOL:

Spurs man here. Nice ground and peeps up there at Wolves. Sorry to see you go down again, not sure who is joining you jet, as that Scottish fool says "squeaky bum time". At least you'll be watching your team winning a lot next year and fighting for promotion hopefully.
:happy2:
Cisse goal was something else, not sure he meant it but you Brown Ale Beltchers won't mind one bit. Buy of the season I think. 2 games left and all to play for that 3/4/5 place. May the best team (Totttenham) win.
:drinking:
So who do you think should get Manager of the Season then?
I can't think of anyone who deserves it more than Alan Pardew. Newcastle were relegation candidates, andf he has taken them to the brink of Champions League football, and made some inspired signings along the way. Fair play to him and Newcastle.

Manager of the Season should be Pardew. Done Really well with an average bunch of players IMO.
Think the crouch goal against city was the best goal this season. The Technique from the baby giraffe was incredible :signLOL:
^^^^
Yes, I have memories of seeing him score by flipping the ball backwards over his head and am fairly sure it was a Liverpool game.
Henderson is shocking, but Downing and Spearing have been very poor too. I do think Chelsea are going to tire here (ha, Drogba has just scored!)
Gutted for the Reds
But  Andy C's got to be in line for England in the Euro's now !

What I don't understand is why on earth don't football games use the same technology that Wimbledon Tennis does for line calls? - i'm thinking of that Liverpool shot on the goal mouth line which bounced off the bar.
.
Well, as someone who doesn't follow football or have a favourite English team, I enjoyed this FA Cup Final as a match. Wnen Liverpool fought they fought hard and got better as the game progressed. Chelsea did what it takes though and so deserved the win, imo.

^ The Reds vs The Blues
I've got to say, I hope Blackburn go down today. Their fans have been an utter disgrace all season. They're in a desperate predicament tonight, a loss would see them get relegated, and their fans decide the time is right for another protest. Why do they think that is appropriate? Wouldn't getting behind your team, being the 12th man not be more useful. It's as if they want to go down.
And although you have to applaud the clubs owners for sticking being Kean, they aren't actually at the game this evening. Do they care?
As a Liverpool fan have no complaints as I dont think you could expect the ref or linesman to say that had gone is as camera's were inconclusive.
You can give Chelsea a 2 goal start and then start to play and hope to win - even though we could quite easily have won it in that last 30 minutes as apart from the 2 goals Chelsea created noother shots on target.
I would have dropped Henderson and played Kuyt on the right with Bellamy up front with Suarez, and let Gerrard sit deeper with Spearing trying to contain Mata , Lampard and Mikel.
Our game plan faile din first half because Spearing and Henderson do not possess the quality/experience to cope with the quality of Chelseas midfield, which meant Gerrard had to drop so deep that he was miles away from Suarez.
No disrespect to Norwich, but just because this plan worked to great effect against them does not mean it would work agisnt a team as solid and experienced as Chelsea!
If we had Alonso and Mascherano instead of Spearing and Hendeson we would have won, but that sums up our team at present - Rafa gets criticised but some of the players we had in a few years ago are far better than waht FSG have brought in - Alonso, Mascherano, Torres, Crouch, even Arbeloa
Liverpool won? :surprised:
Well done the scousers, did not watch the game as had better things to do (worming the dog by hand springs to mind ), was chelsea a full team or did they rest loads?

It finished 4 1 Liverpool.
8 changes from the cup final I think. No cech, cole, lampard, mata, meireles, drogba and obviously luiz and Cahill are injured.
Jussa - yeah would rather be forward thinking and not go back to Rafa but I do think he is a more tactically astute manager than Kenny and would attract better players and get us competitive agin for trying to get in the top 4.
We have to be realistic - we should either give Kenny one more season, bring Rafa back now or bring in someone else who is better than both of them but who would that be who would actually want the job bearing in mind no CL? I really am torn in one way I think Kenny should be allowed one more season see how he gets on on the other hand I think go now - you have steadied the ship and won the league cup.
Nothing like a meaningless win to boost confidence! Cue countless Liverpool fans thinking they'll win the League next season :signLOL:

Do Newcastle fans think they can win the league next season?
Newcastle our above us because you deserve to be and I hope you come 4th and get in the CL
But dont delude yourself with thinking you are much closer to United and City than we are.
All Geordie fans thought they were relegation contenders and were not happy in the least at the Pardew appointment
Not in the slightest. In fact most NUFC fans I know and have spoken to think European football has came far too soon and could in fact become a hindrance to our League push next year. The question being asked is "where to next?" because most fans realise we have probably overachieved this season.
The difference between us and the Manchester clubs is huge, that was more than evident on Sunday. In fact in terms of set up, squad size etc we're behind most of the top 10.
Not sure who Spurs play at weekend but I would guess you will probably be joining us in the Thursday-fest of the Europa league next year whoooo :jumpmove:
I think whoever comes 4th could be gutted as can see it being Chelski's year to lift the CL.
my ideal scenario then would be for us to finish a mighty 7th (whoooo) spurs and arsenal to lose, newcastle to win, city to win, united to lose and chelski to lose in the CL final.
not asking for much then

We will be back PROVIDING they do actually build us a new ground as there is no doubt that "fortress (sic)" Anfield is holding us back and they do continue to invest in better players (cant be hard to sign better players than Adam, Henderson and Downing can it? Hoilett, Dempsey and Sinclair?)
If United bring Ronaldo back they're off my Christmas card list for good. The boy is a tosser.

I have to agree with the Hoilett, Dempsey and Sinclair I'm not overly too sure about.
Henderson is like Lucas, I think he will do fantastically if given the chance next season

Yeah I think it is to soon to write off Henderson, but it does not help playing him on the right. Either play him in the middle or leave him on the bench!

great day for footie though and man u winning sweetfa this season puts a nice spin on it
Well, just put a "few" bets on the Chelsea v Bayern. Best one is a flip flop with Chelsea to win at 40/1.
Anyway, back to football on the pitch, who do you all fancy for the promotion play-off final, West Ham or Blackpool? I would like to see the Hammers back with us!

Likewise, Blackpool were a credit to the Premier League last season and I hope they return. Fat Sam, Gold, and Sullivan can rot in the lower leagues.

the 'word' seems to be that they were not keen on kenny from the start. however given 5 months to prove himself he did very well, and with the supporters backing he was hard to overlook.
I find it ridiculous how many times the manager gets the chop for underperforming players. find me another manger that has won the PL with 2 different clubs and won as much as he has as a player.

Spot on with everything you say there BUT Liverpool have had the funds for big purchases and have still managed their worst Leauge position in 20 something years.
I am not a Liverpool supporter but those that are must be pulling their hair out in frustration, yes the players have under performed and many are not good enough for any Premier Leauge club let a loan a so called "big club" such as Liverpool but it all comes down from the manager, who they buy, who plays, what formation, what tactics blah blah blah and keeping Dalglish because of past achievements is wrong, only my opinion.

Yep... based on recent results, the team performances were not good enough. The manager is always responsible for their signings. He propably got longer than most, simply down to the fact that many expected there players to do better.
However a manager that has won the championship 4 times, and done it with 2 different clubs does command some respect. Its just a shame that it seems to come from the fans, rather than to a few so-called footballers whom he signed and handed contracts worth millions of pounds. I think FSG had other ideas from day 1.. I dont think it will take them long
to name a replacement.
However if they get this wrong :scared:
I actually can't believe Downing has been chosen. On what evidence?
I'm not watching any England games, they'll be knocked out in the group stages. :fighting: :fighting:

Tis the football thread after all :signLOL:
Interesting to see the people Liverpool are being linked with for the Manager position. I think Martinez would be a massive mistake. I really don't understand why people rate him. Seems Brendan Rogers has ruled himself out, a massive signal of loyalty to Swansea (or does he think the Liverpool job is a poisoned chalice?).You won't hear any of that bitter jealousy from me Andrew, I think Newcastle have been superb. Pardew has created a great team unity, and his work in the transfer market has been inspired. Ba and Cisse are two of the best signings of the last few seasons. I'd love to see either of those at Anfield.
Also bizarre that after rumours they may be interested in Pardew a lot of Liverpool fans are still claiming Newcastles position was due to a mixture of luck and skewed results making them look better than they really are, citing that we didn't win important games. We beat Man United 3-0 at home, we beat Liverpool at home, and we beat Chelsea away from home immediately after taking a hiding from a resurgent Wigan.

Seems like their is a lot of momentum building for the return of Rafa! Now that would be interesting!
No. Please, no. He was dire at Inter, and his best days as a manager are behind him. Martin O'Neil, Johan Cruyff or Jurgen Klinsmann are realistic targets that would bring a great style of football with the ability to attract top players. Pep Gaurdiola is totally unrealistic, but fair play to Liverpool for sounding him out!
Liverpool fans are about as deluded as the toon fans! We all know there attituded when pardew took over and now look, he nearly got them into the CL.
.
Chelsea at last beginning to come alive towards end of first half against Bay Munich who look very strong. 0 - 0.
It's a shame Ashley Cole is such a prick because he is such a good footballer, undoubtedly the world's best left back. He's been astounding tonight.:congrats: word for word, dead right. Best player on the pitch tonight!!
Liverpool fans are about as deluded as the toon fans! We all know there attituded when pardew took over and now look, he nearly got them into the CL.
What's your point?
Bad luck Spurs fans!OH, BLOODY HELL!!!!
.
Why are some of you guys so disappointed that an English team Chelsea won?
Bayern played extremely well, especially Robben, but......
Chelsea deserved to win, bayern didn't take the chances they created, they had the home advantage and couldn't make it pay. Well done Chelsea. Now if only the villa can find someone to get us back at the top half of the table!
+1 :congrats: Here here, couldn't have put it better myself. My sentiments exactly!Chelsea deserved to win, bayern didn't take the chances they created, they had the home advantage and couldn't make it pay. Well done Chelsea. Now if only the villa can find someone to get us back at the top half of the table!
Chelski showed theirclassdistinct lack of class by letting that racist thug John Terry lift the trophy with Lampard and agree Ashley Cole was by far the best player on the Pitch if only he was not such an arrogant pri"ck!! (his comment about "Thats why I came here" while holding his winners medal, yeah right, nowt to do with the 250% pay rise then you greedy little turd! . I dont think Chelski "Deserved" to win, it was after all the Germans game to lose!.
And gutted for Tottenham who will not be in the CL next year as they are far more entertaining to watch than boring chelski, until penalties one of the worst games I have seen.
I'm not convinced, but then I thought Pardew was the end of Newcastle, so what do I know!
I hope he's half as good as Pardew in the transfer market! Hopefully he'll have a big clear out and get rid of the headless chicken and Charlie Adam, who has been sh1te. Several others I'd get shot of as well. How well he does depends on who he can lose, and how much he gets for new players. I think he'll bring an attractive style of play though.
Meh. To be fair I'd choose a London club over a Manchester club. People are bemused that he hasn't chosen United or City but who knows who else Chelsea are targeting this summer. He could have been given some pretty exciting reassurances.

Eden Hazard: 192 apps, 50 goals and 30 assists. Shinji Kagawa: 198 apps, 86 goals and 45 assists. In a better league.
And for all the hype it sounds like Shinji Kagawa might be the better buy!QuoteEden Hazard: 192 apps, 50 goals and 30 assists. Shinji Kagawa: 198 apps, 86 goals and 45 assists. In a better league.
Ha, one word: Bebe.

Did anyone watch BBC's Panorama last night about the regular Polish and Ukranian football match violence? Virtually Nazi.
Jemba Jemba (Spelling)?
Alan Smith
Jordi Cryuff
Anderson
Forlan
Bellion
Berbatov???
Fergie isnt as great in the transfer market as you may think, but agree most clubs have just as long of list of players that have failed or flopped
Veron ?
Veron ?
He was crap for United but Chelski still paid us £17.8m for him :happy2:, that makes them worse than us!.
Looks Like Shinji is on his way (The Japanese Paul Scholes) hopefully completed by friday!.

Seen quite a lot of this kid, looks the real deal. Won't stop people saying they've bought him to sell shirts in jaPan!
So it's looking like Brendan Rodgers will go to Liverpool and Martinez to Villa. I can see the latter, but Rodgers at Liverpool is daft IMO.

You happy with that? To be honest I'd have thought Liverpool would go with someone with a proven track record. Swansea played some great football last season but they failed in their inability to boss games and change their game when it wasn't working for them.
they have so little idea of what to actually do with the football its like there completely brain dead

If Demba goes, expect Pardew to leave soon after :signLOL:
Shouldn't have put a 7m clause in his contract. Big mistake.
If we can beat Ukraine (mmmm?) we will come 2nd and probably face germany or spain and get knocked out in 1/4's, we need to top the group to have any chance of reaching the semi's
Who needs goal-line technology when you've got the assistant referees standing by the goal? :happy2:hi Paul :happy2: better second half more pressing style .. Still don't rate Ashley young :sad1:

Yes it was over the line and yes it was offside, but then rooney's shirt being pulled in the box is another area they need to look at (not just Rooney) but all shirt grabbing, once they give a few penalties hopefully it will put a stop to it, although as most footballers struggle to remember their own name I doubt they will remember not to pull opposing players shirts in the box! :signLOL:
yes... i think they should all be made to wear global hypercolour t-shirts so we can all see where the holding has been going on. Or just create a super stretch shirt OR one that tears when pulled (this of course should be trialed in the womens football world cup just to ensure it works... :jumpmove:

Glad the Italians beat the Germans, now just hope they can beat the spanish too (who look like they are fading with every game!), goals wins games not fancy little triangle passing possession :signLOL:

....I agree.
The Germans have been far too teutonically arrogant and desrved to lose.
The Spanish fancy triangular passing, though skilled, is tedious and can spoil a game.
So I want the Italians to win on Sunday. They were great last night.

^ The Italians are always cheeky.
I believe I tipped the Italians in an earlier post on the forum, damn wish I had had a punt on them now :signLOL:
Spain winning was never really in doubt they knew they could beat most teams in second gear. It just goes to show when they turn it on :notworthy:
Mike you can put that 8 quid towards your new Turbo, every little helps

I love it the way people ^ get so personal when a team wins. Spain easily deserved it. Outplayed Italy in every sense. Sublime passing, fantastic opportunity making.
And to boot i won £30 in the sweepstakes at work! :happy2:

I don't dislike spain when they win, I just dislike them ALL THE TIME! :happy2:
Believe it or not possession was almost 50/50, the little men just used it better, think Italy might have had a chance if it were not for the injury as they were looking better early on second half.
.
I have to say that as someone who isn't a footie fan per say, I always enjoy any team or anyone who is great at their sport. It's why I tend to support Brazil mostly. Spain were undoubtedly excellent and deserved to win.
I probably won't watch another footie match until a cup final.
Bring on the Premier League. To be honest I totally lost interest in the championship.

It's a privilege to watch the Spanish players in their Leauge and for their country. We may never see their like again!!
:happy2:
I disagree with the comments about the Primera Liga, tbh its a 2 horse race and has been for many years (you may as well watch the scottish prem league :indifferent:), Barcelona funded by fans/local businesses versus Real Madrid funded by the government, far too much diving and play acting (triple rolls whilst holding your face when someone just brushed against you :fighting:, it's lame, then you wave the "imaginary card" and when the opposing player is booked your suddenly up and sprinting away ), there are only 2 matches worth watching, Real Vs Barca and Barca vs Real, I will stick with the premiership where at least 3 or 4 teams have a chance of winning and most teams can win against the top teams on a good day!.
Leon Best to Blackburn for £3M, we done well out of that deal :happy2:
So, rumours that Newcastle want Andy Carroll back and have had a loan proposal knocked back. I've got to say, I find the prospect pretty exciting, if a little unrealistic. This has all the hallmarks of Ashley rocking the boat, messing with Carroll's head and getting him to initiate a transfer request, enabling us to get him back for a steal. That of it's very clever diversion tactics while he off loads one of our key players.

Oh good, that means some Arab Oil Sheik might see an opportunity and buy the club for £800m (Getting rid of the Glazers) and throw another £300m on new players, we might even get £500m for naming rights for the ground and various car parks.

GB's second half's goalie Buckland was brilliant though, otherwise it could have been 6 - 0 to Brasil.
Brasil's star player N was ridiculous about his alleged neck injury.
Hi MV, I am a liverpool fan but not seen any of match yet but I hear we were poor?
Tbh, not happy with owners letting Carroll go on loan and not bring anyone in  :fighting:
We had a small squad anyway so how are we meant to cope if Suarez or Borini get injured? Down to Sterling and young Adam Morgan... nuts.
I hope the new American owners are just steadying the ship re wages but surely they could have gone to £6million for Dempsey after unloading Adam and Carroll's and Spearing's wages?? :stupid:

reports suggest gerrard had a stinker, suarez could not finish again, and gooners not great - just took the chances presnted to you? reina not the keeper he was either by looks of it
:grin:oh dear they had a bad day as well
Man United fan here...av it.
who else you guys got now big Andy has gone.
well done... man poo won. Although if you keep playing like that then the title will not be going to manchester... oh hang on yes it will :signLOL:
very poor defence (which i expect to settle) but more importantly you look very weak in CM positions.... and I hope to godsomethingnothing happens tosell outvan persie :P
I strangly went with arsenal for the title before it all kicked off... so I am sticking with that. I think man u are lacking in midfield.... we will have to wait and see i guess.
p.s. he is not a sell out because he left, he is a sell out because of where he went :fighting:
they just need to make sure they are putting chances away.
Some pretty interesting chants coming from the MUFC fans this afternoon
You do realise I made that post on the 15th September don't you?
many tottenham fans on here?
Am keeping my mouth shut this season and hoping for a top 4 finish and a place at the top table of European football. Reckon its Chelski's title this year, as long as we finish above The Arse I'll be a happy bunny.
Yeah, it was a decent game. You were rampant in the first 15, I thought Rooney was excellent. I felt pretty deflated after the game, but on reflection we didn't play too bad and with a more experienced back four we might not have conceded at least 1 of the first two goals.
Looks like Van Persie will get a three match ban for the elbow on Cabaye. Pretty pointless when you've won 3 - 0!
You can't have been watching too closely

Whether its an elbow or not you can clearly see his arm unnaturally move to Cabayes face. I personally think Van Persie is a nasty piece of work. And before any Man U fans start defending him, just remember 6 months ago you were hurling abuse at him in an Arsenal shirt.
Either way the FA aren't doing anything about it, nor the Tiote and Huth stamps or the comical cheating of Suarez.
That ugly monkey faced moron keown is a different story tho......
so... who would be your team of the season so far with nine games gone?
I would go with
Cech
Ivanovic Vermaelen Mertesacker Cole
Nolan Mata Michu
Suarez Van Persie Ba
Quite Chelsea heavy with 4 players but I reckon that team would take some beating at moment

Unbelievable from Arsenal....4 nil down.....now 4 all.
