Don't know if anyone has experience of changing a belt as the garage I am with now told me that it is a BIG job as in down pipe off fuel lines out. He may be chatting bubbles as I am meant to have to car back now but it's going to be ready tomorrow.

Just wondering if anyone can confirm this for me :)

 Thanks guys

Mine was done in 4 hours,

Vw charge £420 for a cambelt pulleys and waterpump charge so don't pay any more than that
-
Ye well the garage I have it in at the mo said its like a 5 hour job so I suppose he is telling the truth there

Ah don't worry fella he is going it all for FREEEEEEE ahah

Just had to buy the parts which was £240

In this situation it is actually worth ringing around different VW garages, some offer special offers

Couldn't agree more. My local VW franchise quoted me a reduced price of something like £450 for the cam belt and water pump but a fairly local Skoda garage quoted me £360.

It pays to shop around  :happy2:
