An aftermarket fit, but up to this point no major issues. Getting stuck in traffic the other day and turning on and off the car a couple of times while no cars were moving. On the third time starting the car and moving away the unit never came back on. The welcome screen attempted to show up but flickered off straight away and then for the journey home would randomly try starting up again. The last few days has been the same, a practically dead unit with the it attempting to ressurect itself but to no avail. I can hear the hard drive spinning up and stopping but thats as far as it gets. No display, no tunes, no nothing?? I've scanned the unit with VCDS and the fault it shows up is no connection. I've tried the soft reset with no result, so wandering what else can be done? The cars off my hands for the next 10 days but need it for a trip to germany at the end of the month. Any suggestions greatfully received.

Loose power supply cable or fuse?
Do you have any interruptions into the main power supply such as a plug and play style MDI or BT lead?

Yeah thinking I'll have to take the unit out and check the connections and fuse on the back of it, was hoping for another type of reset to cure the hiccup. It is just a straight plug and play, no extra connections anywhere. I was hoping that the series of stopping and starting the car had made it throw a hissy and trip something out. i'll have a good root round when i get the car back.
Cheers :happy2:

Ok had the unit out of the dash today and all the connections ,plugs and fuses are ok. So while I had it on the work bench, decided to open it up and look inside. All clean except for a few bits of polystyene packing stuck in places. Screwed all back together and waiting to go back in the car tomorrow. If it fails to start up again when reinstalled any more ideas? I'm thinking stuck hard drive maybe, so who knows their way ound the internals of RNS? Or if it simply means replacing the hard drive anyone have a how to guide for this.
Cheers.
