How he looked just before chrimbo

Jesus that's bad - I feel your pain.........don't suppose there is any point going back and playing hell with them :fighting:
-
Unbelievable, I feel for you. Hopefully it's not too bad though.
I find a spray bottle of Auto Finesse Citrus Power and your local garage power washer is perfect in situations when you don't have time for a proper wash.
-
Ouch, was just going to say, looks they used sandpaper to wash it. Sorry to see that.
I hate dirty cars, but with the hosepipe ban I would rather have a dirty car than one that ends up looking like yours does now. In fact, I had my neighbours think I was barmy when I was washing my car in the pouring rain last week. At least it was wet to start with and the rain rinsed it down perfectly.
Much better than the scratch parlor down the road.

I think it would be best if I stayed away from them tbh :fighting: I don't imagine they would do anything about it and tbh I don't think they would be able to understand what I was talking about.

Come on Ben, even you know better than to use those guys. For shame!
-
I had similar when my VW dealer washed mine despite me telling them not to on several occasions. The guy laughed when I showed him. You only had to look around the car park to see the state of the other cars to understand why.
Feel for you Ben. Trip to one of the detailers on here in the near future.

I know, I know :ashamed: :ashamed: Just passed by and thought to myself 'they cant be that bad' how wrong was I.

Cheers dude :happy2: Indeed but unfortunately that trip is gonna be a few months away :sad1:

The only people I used on my old car was someone who basically sprayed TFR and then rinsed it down. It was a no touch technique so never had swirls. I once watched a guy clean my grandad's car and he dropped the noodle mitt twice on the gravel ground.

If the car looks shiny, that's enough for them. Have you considered getting the No Washing signs from detailingworld? Look like bookmarks with a hook on the end to hang on the rear view mirror. I bought two and gave one to the service guy to attach to the paperwork and hung one in the car. They didn't wash it.

Got around the hosepipe ban by using jet wash connected to waterbutt or a small piece of hose connected to jetwash and dipped in a bucket or large container :happy2:

i would have gone back in a flash, it's always worth a try.
That'll take some effort and a long day to get that out!
-
sorry to see your car in this state Ben :sad1:Hopefully most of it will come out when you get it detailed
-
Ben Ben Ben Ben Ben!!!! :surprised:

Was tempted to go back but then I thought better of it weren't really in the talkative mood :fighting: Plus tbh I wouldn't want them touching it again.

Cheers fella :happy2: just been out to take a second look and it does look like its recoverable with a bit of effort.
Ben Ben Ben Ben Ben!!!! :surprised:
I know i'm hanging my head in shame :sad1:

-
I've sorted much worse fella!
you haven't seen mine :signLOL:
-
and the moral of the story is....
-
Dropped mine of at one couple of weeks ago and they use they spray wax and it turned all my plastics spotty white! And they put something on the alloys that turned the bolt caps white! Also they lost the Vw sign of my key ahah
So no I wast impressed at all!
-
I know the hose ban is on,those that mean the jet wash at petrol stations too??
-
The good news is that is can be sorted out quite easily mate. But i would still go back to the wash place and show them what they have done, and tell them how pissed off you are. :fighting: :fighting: :fighting:
-
Is that meant to read can.be sorted out easy :signLOL:

Thanks... edited! :happy2:

Absolute tossers! Feel for you mate. Mine looked like that a while ago, almost wants to make you give up with trying to keep it looking minty fresh!!
Local VW Stealers are forever washing brand new cars on their forecourt with bucket and sponge when I go there.
Only problem, if you go back now they will probably plead ignorance and say it was not them.
-
Full sympathy, i have just collected the g/f Leon from Seat having had 4 wheel laser done. 'Sorry Sir, we have had to replace the front number plate, as we broke it washing your car!' Some wash the wheels are filthy and they have missed half the car!
It is always better to have a dirty car than give it a quick wash yourself or worse allow the 5min swirlamatics loose on your pride and joy.
Ive seen them plenty of times drop the wash mitt or shammy and put it straight back onto the car!
-
U know what they use to wash the car with....the cheapest washing up liquid in the supermarket...I know cause I seen them buy it...that's why I don't let anyone touch my car, only I,myself & me
-
Absolutely gutted for you - it was looking MINT last year!!
-
Thats terrible , did they use a bloody brillo pad?
-
Absolutely gutted for you - it was looking MINT last year!!
It was looking mint 5 mins before they touched it :sad1: Well atleast it was under about 2k miles worth of muck.
Anyway have now sourced a DA for the weekend so fingers crossed it's not as bad as I originally thought :innocent:
Ben
-
You took your car to a grit bucket wash? Fail.
Sorry to see the damage, but its a bit obvious that it was going to happen.
-
I hope it will be back to its former glory soon!
The problem with them is that they are stupid, I have had them ask me if I wanted my car cleaned only 2 days after I spent a whole day washing, polishing and waxing. I just asked him if he was joking!
-
The wee bro got a maguiars G220 a while ago, n when i got my motor it was worse than that n cleaned up a treat!!
-
ouch!! what did they use? a 10 year old spunge which they had used to clean flags with?! thats shocking! feel for you dude!
-
fair play, that is probably the best looking black gti ive seen cleaned up, did you get a detail on it or clean it yourself? did u do a cleaning thread on it?
-
Cheers dude :happy2:
Well the pic was taken after I gave it a pre winter detail and I didnt do a thread but I used Werkstatt Prime polish then 2 coats of collinite 476 wax. I will be doing a full write up when I manage to free up some time to tackle the above damage :happy2: Until then the car isn't getting cleaned as I cant bear to look at the scratches :sad1:
-
Christ! That looks terrible :indifferent:. But it's inevitable at any public washing facility / service!
-
W**kers. Just a cash business for laundering drug money. They have no interest in clean cars
-

That is outrageous; how can someone have the audacity to laugh? VW dealers, in my experiences, have shocking service though, so we shouldn't be surprised. The problem with VW cars is that 99% of them are white-good cars, so the dealers treat the cars and the people who buy them like crap.
-
And there was me thinking I sold to an enthusiast who would take great care of her (not him). Plus I know what its liek to get lazy much other stuff in life to do.
I know it easy to flame the car washer but they don't know any better and I suppose never intended to inflict that damage. Still with a DA some compound and refining polish it can be put back to its former glossy metallic beating glory.
That polish residue in the shuts not so much a bad thing now eh?
