Hi all, Ive got a brand-new Golf MK6 with an RNS 510 Nav Fitted (Hasn't got the 6 Disc changer) coming in a few months.
What can I do with it... Does it play DVD films? Can I watch TV on it? Would it be possible to have a Sub connected? Or any another useful things I can get it to do!!?
Cheers

You will be able to listen to
- Listen to radio
- Watch DVD
- Insert SD card to listen to music
- Copy music from the SD and store it to the RNS hard drive
You can add on (£££)
- Bluetooth kit
- TV receiver
- Reverse camera
- Add screens
so on and so on........the add on don't tend to be cheap through.

Ah nice one! Ive got the bluetooth kit added and the camera too. Where can I get the TV receiver? Is it a VW part?
What screens can I add?
Cheers

Like most things there are 'cost effective' kits available to doo anything.
Someone will post a part number for the TV receiver.
Screen, you will need to look at Kufatec website. There is an adaptor for the RNS unit to plug additional screens into - think it was about £160 give or take. Then you just get whatever screen you want

Ok thats cool, thanks for the info ill check out that website. :happy2:
Found this on eBay

Should that do the job?

Looks OK. < as per your comment. Will do the job.
Quality? seems OK.
-
Also how is it possible to set it to allow you to watch the TV when the car is moving?
-
I believe the part number for a genuine VW TV tunner is 3C0919148B < but is appprox £400.00
It is possible to enable video in motion, your looking at £20 average to do this. Couple of people on here can do it using a plug in lead for the RNS.

Just put that into ETKA, try £1547.00 :scared:

Ok thats cool, Thanks for the help once the car arrives I can have a play!!
Wow thats a lot of cash for a free view box!! lol
-
Can you run a sub and amp off these headunits??
-
Yup - quite a few have done so. SQ still ain't as good as a dedicated aftermarket HU. I'd also argue functionality is limited eg can only play mp3 and wma files, DVD format discs (ie not data discs), etc.

Isn't it 3 points for having a screen the driver can see while moving ?
-
Not sure about the points, buts if defo not legal! Im only thinking of the passengers might want to watch it... :innocent:

The question at point is something I wanted to ask to
But fine all things considered the biggest and most appealing thing about the unit is the fact that its so oem, but if you have an 05 plated car to have a rns510 in a car is gonna be around £650/700 as i got pm'd from another forum member
so the question i ask now, is if we dont run a rns510 what other options are the as an UPGRADE.

I have a Pioneer Avic F9210BT in my ED30. It looks spot on and is a great bit of kit
