BOGOF or 3for2 are great deals  :notworthy:
Megs ultimate detailer is amazing stuff and is never seems to be less than £11 a bottle, even at trade shows direct from the Meguires stand.

Halfords is the only place I buy my detail spray from.  :happy2:

Skint this time  :fighting:  Wanting some clay & detailer  :sad1:

Bilt Hamber clay - £11 from Elite Car Care and is 200g (which is double what most others are). It can be used with water too so no need for lube. Fast delivery too as i ordered mine late on Friday afternoon and it came saturday morning.

 CLAY CLICKY  (http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/bilt-hamber-autoclay-medium-clay-bar-200g.php?manufacturers_id=33&osCsid=63ede2c5c29e327918f94f75d09d0441)

For a quick detailer i currently use AF Finale and it's one of the best i have used (having used FK425 which i really rate, Meguiars & Zaino). Smells nice too.

Carl, do you/can you use the AUTO FINESSE FINALE for claying.  I realise you can use the Bilt Hammer with water but would feel more confident popping my clay cherry with a lube   *Bet Ian is the 1st to reply

Thought about the Bilt clay when looking for next clay bar. Came across 2 different hardnesses (as it were) and not sure what the difference is between them.

Mike,

You could use finale as a lube, you could use pretty much most quick detailers, but i'd see it as a waste of finale.

It really is simple to do. What i do is break the clay up in to 2 pieces and put them in a jug of warm water. I then soak the car (when i'm ready to clay) take a piece out of the jug and make it into a plam sized piece. I then do a panel at a time, checking the clay periodically and if necessary folding over. I also have a spray bottle of water to mist onto the panel if needs be. Once the clay starts to harden i pop it in the warm water and use the second piece and just repeat the process till every panel is done.

It doesn't take me long as i have used tardis and Iron-X (if needs be) before hand so there is very little if anything on the paint. Generally you shouldn't need to clay anymore than 2-3 times a year.

Remember if you clay you need to polish afterwards as it will marr the paint.

MC71,

It depends on your paint really as to which you use. However as VAG paint is quite hard then the medium one i linked is fine. VW paint is harder than Skoda paint and it doesn't cause any issues on my car.

If you are unsure then get the softer one, it just may not take everything off the paint as easy.

Guessing that's why the 50/50 photos show such a dramatic improvement cause they are showing 'marred' finish against polished?

Cant imagine it staying bloody dry enough for me to tackle polishing aswell.  :fighting:

When i say marr the paint i don't mean it's going to causing heavy swirling etc. Unless your a twonk who clays a dry car with dry clay

However if the car is already got very little swirling/marks etc then when you dry the car afterwards it will have faint marks from where you have used the clay. But this all depends on how well lubed you keep it and how much crap it's taking off.

If you tardis & IX the car first then keep it wet and are careful with the clay you will do minimal marring.

I thought yours was detailed recently?

Last August was the last propper detail.  It was meant to be in at Midlands car care a couple of weeks ago but Russ's had other commitments with his day job.  :sad1:
Havent had chance to re book as Im meant to be deploying but getting royally dicked about with dates.

There is light swirling from where someone fairly recently thought they were doing me a favour by washing the car.

IronX sounds impressive will order some & some bilt hammer clay payweekend, reading the description (& health warnings) TarDis sounds pretty hardcore
