Just wanted to know, what oil you guys use.

I have been using 5w30 but have been told 5w40 oil is better?

The rating after the W is performance of the oil when at operating temps (the 5 being at start up I think).

Personally though I would use what vw reccomend... 5w30FS  :happy2: and has the vw spec number on which is something like 50021 but don't take me up on that.

DONT JUST PUT ANY OLD 5W30 OIL INTO YOUR 1.9 TDI!!!!!!!

whatever you do please make sure its suitable for VW spec 507 or it states specifically on the bottle/gallon somewhere that it is suitable for VW 'PD' engines

google 'vw PD cam wear' - there was a massive scandal over the wrong oil used in PD engines when the engine was newly released resulting in premature camshaft failure...

5w30 correct to vw spec and suitable for PD engines... stick to a good quality fully synthetic oil - as phil recommended, pop over to either a TPS or a main dealer, supply with your reg number and use what they supply. remember 'PD' oil for your 'PD' engine!
