Been searching for the right MK5 for a few months but after much searching I finally found one, and at a cracking price.
Only thing was the price reflected the overal condition and neglection so first weekend up there was a major service carried all belts tensioners blah blah, while we was there changed the fuel/ follower, PCV Valve & Diverter to a D. so after a few £££'s the cars now running on point.
So next up is it to go into the bodyshop to get some paint tlc and get my my bumpers how I want them.
Coilovers have landed too thanks to Tuningwerks, not sure of what wheels for those of you that know me I definatly love a wheel, so Im sure We've got something knocking about for it :)

Hopefully not but problem is once you start modding a motor that you enjoy its very hard to draw the line as im sure most of us know.lol
Plans are simple with this for now anyway, Wheels, Coils & some audio fingers crossed :)

Well US bumper's been bought I managed to order up a matching lower GTi spoiler too
And got given a RNS510 by a friend, which was nice of him, will hope to get this fitted at some point.
Got a confirmed slot at the painters for the end of the month too so all in all Im chuffed

Well not much to report just yet but still collecting odd bits.
Had a touch the other day,got a call from my painter who's a good friend of mine and asked me if I minded if he painted my car in a few weeks as he's got a few big resto's on atm which I didnt mind,
Had a word with vw and it turns out they may paint my drivers side under warrenty as theres a few bubbles around the arch so result
Had a chat with a good friend at tuningwerks so planning on an apr st 1 map in the next few weeks.
Bought this from work to match the USA rear bumper but not convinced tbh

Well After hangin about with my friends recently and being back in a hatch back an not a saloon, I'd really missed my audio so got on the case, Luckily I a friend of mine owed me a favour so we did a deal and parted a few pound coins his way and then a rns510 my way tbh I've had the unit sitting on the table from before even getting a mk5, but as we got closer to fitting it I just wasnt filled with enough confidence to fit it, but aas luck had it another friend had fairly upto date RNS 510 with all current maps etc so managed to buy that too, so for some weird reason I now have 2 RNS510 so might stick the other one in the wifes mk5.
So thats the Ive always used a company in the midlands called BladeIce for my wiring and other bespoke bits, and as I think this Car might be a keeper I thought Id opt for some premium 4awg flexi wire, excellnant gear very flexible and strong.
SO after spending a few long hours of trying to get information about Can Gateways etc I bought one on friday too just in time for our saturday that we'd dedicated at getting some punch back in the old girl.
As Saturday started made a trip down to my mates garage and the worked starte, by 10am Id striped the glove box and etc but was absolutly struggling to get this phono's any where But after being very commited managed to get the power wire through, as embarrasing as this is for me it took me almost 50 mins to find the hole lol .
Very patiently removed all the trim along the passenger side sills so that the wires could be run properly in the channels.
Then we hit a problem, in the time that I was hard wiring the car, my mate that was going to code in my stero scanned the car so that we could read all the codes for the gateway, great, but once we fitted the new one the car wouldn accept it, at this point the hole front dash was completly stripped, So I started panicing, I had a moment of madness n thought il just carry my jump leads and get a gateway another day, what a waste of thought.Luckily a local breaker managed to have a L can gateway in stock and luckily he zipped it over on his ped.result
So there was light at the end of the tunnel, but by now its 3pm so after 5 long stressful hours of getting somewhere then no where then to a happy boy again we started boxing the car back up, unfortunatly Id didnt get to get my sub wired to the head unit as I needed to convert the sound to add a sub but thats now been left for another day :)
Other than that not much still to report, Im trying to get some bodywork carried out by VW under warrenty once thats done then we'l get it in to the bodyshop

Still nothing major to report home
Realised that my tyres that were on the golf were in a bad state so borrowed my brothers Phaetons for a while while his is at VW, when I looked in detailed to my suprise the golf's been lowered on Eibach lowering springs not sure which ones but some form of Eibachs lol
Put on my USA mk5 gti rear bumper for a laugh the other saturday, decided to leave it on till paint as that its black its justy not majic black.:(

Started to collect some parts now
Coils are sorted thanks to Reuben @ Tuningwerkes,so a couple of weeks they will go on
Had a couple of US rear bumpers lying around, so thought why not put it on for a few weeks, and then it'l get painted with the rest of the car

Had to return my brother his Phaeton alloys, and to be honest as my original 17s needed rubber i thought I'd long that off and get some BBS CH reps and thats what we did. Its not low but its drivable atm but will be lower by the end of the month :)

Ive never been a fan of ch's till I got my mk5 now I love them, I've got some H&R Coils awaiting to be picked up from tuningwerkes but recently just really enjoyed not rubbing and causing other low related issues, but for those that know me, I do like a low car so im sure it will see the floor soon enough

Well Paint was looking bit tired, actually very tired had quite a few marks on it, so last monday I dropped it of to the Bodyshop, had quite a bit done.
Any way as Im tring to keep this very OEM, instead of going down the Smooth front grill, and didnt like the look of the front US holder I'd Get the bodyshop to make a new recess up and I absolutly love it.
But anyway I will get some better pics up in a few days

....Good idea to take advantage of having a short reg. I'm surprised that the bodyshop agreed to make up the plates with technically illegal spacing or did you supply them? I actually prefer the X being separated, legal or not. But short plates are TWF! :happy2:

I hear that, as above I thought it'd be rude not too, the bodyshop we use specialise in modified car's so it was a win win

Love the look of the grill, just needs the rear bumper colour coded imo.Thanks so far to date the front number plate area is defo my favourite mod, I wernt to keen on satin black at the start but im glad I followed my mates vision :)

I know what ur saying regards to the bumper but its been done a hundreads of time i thought Id work with the original lines and patterns on the car

As we all know running an amp through the RNS510 is a question thats always asked
Id run all my wires down the channels correctly months ago but only up until a few weeks ago I managed to get it all sorted
Basically we ran a converter which converts the rear speakers to subs theyre still active but you share the power of them

Last weekend as Players show was on our door step we thought it'd be rude not to go

Gave the car some machine love, on the saturday before Players, Didnt have the time to go for full correction, so just went with a simple machine enhancement process,and have sealed the paint up with some awesome Nano sealant ready for the winter months.

Also after doing a fair few mile over the past couple of weeks the outside was in a state so gave it a quick wash yesterday at my brothers place.
Seems so far that the winter paint protection I added a month back is working brilliantly :)
Currently considering selling the wheels though :O

It's been stored at my local VW dealer for the last 2 years, and driving 10 miles if that in that time, its needs a good tidy up and some bits sorted out, all very silly thingsd like headlining, steering wheel, change the seats and a good ol polishing session

Been thinking for the past few weeks to sell the GTi and replace it with either a very high spec'd mk5 gt tdi or a E90, but decided to put that off till next year
So I thought I'd enjoy this abit more for a while longer, so yesterday went down to my mates garage and removed my Eibach coil springs and replaced them with FK Highsports coilovers.
Quite chuffed at the ride quality, Its currently on 17s but Im off to Essen motorshow in germany on friday and we're driving my gti accross the pound so I'l be borrowin my brothers wheels again

I think the normal reflector headlights have the sidelight in the main lens so you wouldnt get the same effect.

I know and if I wasnt driving to Essen motorshow in Germany I would have had it on some 19 CH's but xmas round the corner, and this trip to essen on friday just wont allow this month

I think they do Only work with xenons as the side light for them is alot lower in the lamp

I cant really justify R32 xenons at the moment as I'd rather spend the money on some wheels, so I opted for some Updated Osram bulbs.
I also finally got round to actually fitting some my 3rd set of R32/Edition 30 Tail lights to her, as I sold my previous 2.
I think thats my modding done for this year, and next year only a set of 19s or at least I hope so.
Gave it a quick wash too.

For road legal plates you should have the required space between so that it reads 'R7 KYX'. Also 11mm space on left of 'R' and right of 'X'. I think you are also meant to have a name and address of the supplier along the bottom too. It's all documented in detail on the hyperinterwebbynetthingy. Show plates iz differente.

Touch wood Ive not had any bother, I live in London and the old bill are quite sharpe on stuff like plates usually and Ive been fine.

Its a legal registration mark, Spacing aint exactly how it should be, but the font and sizing is exactly to Gov.spec just not spaced. Ive ran my number plate in similar ways for several years and I've been fine< or at least till now

Erm tbh they were tinted when I bought the car, if I get the time I'd probably remove them, but it does help the car to look stealthy
Big fan of this looks really smart, what set of 19"s have you got in mind or is it a wait and see jobby? Out of interest how much was postage to get the rear bumper from the states, it looks great.

I removed the Champion's off my car, as there sold now the other night.
Plan was to take some pics of the wheels on the car but weather being as cold as it has I didnt bother doing a test fit.
I'm a massive lover of speedlines and have been for years just never owned a car that I thought they'd work on, I was planning on buying 9's all round but I opted not to as I didnt want to modify the original arches, so I went with a set of 8 1/2's

they need to go on my car soonish, as current tryes on my 17s are dead, so Im thinking Im gonna run the SLINES for now as they are, and in mid March I'l take them of and refurb,
So it'l be Polished outers and either Hyper silver or maybe crackle Centres not decided yet.
Im hoping to get my mk5 fully wound down, I'l get the chassis notch done, and then for the time being it should be fine

Well I managed to get the new 2 tyres fitted to the the wheels on tuesday with the intentioin of goin to prept, but had a few difficultys with the tyres, so il be ordered an additioinal 2 tyres again from my mate at Tuningwerks, decided to deal with the curb marks sooner than later, and hopefully tackle them one evening next week.
Got a text from a mate that he was going up to Motech Performance over in Northampton to get his car mapped so I thought I may aswell get mine done too, so went along, having used Motech in the past on my old Golf I had faith in him and his ability. On the Journey up from London I was averaging 26/27 in my GTI travelling at about 80ish, on the journey back at the same driving style I saw a gain in my mpg of 32/34. The Drive of the cars changed massively IMO, the cars become so much more responsive, increase in the HP of approx 40hp. over taking on the way home was at ease no need to drop a gear.
If your in the market for a map definatly give him a shout, I'l be gettin my wifes 105 TDI mk5 done in a few weeks to on a eco map from them too.
Also went down to see the bodyshop I use and have booked the car in to have the tail gate painted as the paint has started to flake, and thought I may also stick a differant front spliter on too.
I also sold my mk2 Golf today too. so all in all quite a productive day.

Sorted out a Dodgy door card on the passenger side, as it wasnt on properly.
Couple of weeks back I bought some Rotiform rims
had a little play with it today but this was done to make sure they Audi Speedlines sit how I want it to.

So thats what we did, rounded up the lads at went down to my mates Garage, and thats where the magic happened.
Process was pretty straight forward tbh, 180grit on da followed by 320 and the wet sanded down using 320, then come out the polishing guns and things started to look bling, Used a 2 stage Polishing kit that I bought on the net worked really well.
For now all We done was the dish's, and I think by mid show season I'l split them again and have the centres painted in a differant colour.

But bought a new votex front splitter for my front end to give it that extra depth, not yet had it painted tho that will be done when she goes in for more paint.
Lowered the car another 15mm but still not too happy with the way it's sitting so will attack it again
And that's pretty much it
Been hunting about for some big brakes and hopefully a set of nice sporty seats

Ordered up some open front grills
And as I managed to break a piece of my air vent grill on the dash I thought id better get a new one and replace it

Im considering Changin the wheels for a while and getting the Centres painted a little darker
Love the indicators. Makes it stand out very nicely
I like the indicators too, Its a very cheap mod and your right on the colour they stand out very well, getting mixed comments on them

Im thinking of changing my current subwoofer to a more disreet and classy type I fancy something thats enclosed in the passenger side well, but lets see, Ive spoken to some one whos got one just need to do the drive.
Since having the Speedlines and coilovers fitted I hadnt got round to having the car tracked so I had that done on the weekend, also had the rear camber set to 3.0 as I wanted more camber as Current wheels were rubbing on hard cornering.
Really happy with the look for now.
Got some more parts together but need to find the motivation to get them on to the car.

Been Giving the old girl a bit of stick this past week to see how the camber handles and even at 3'o of camber she handles really well.

Nothing major but Passenger front seat had chocolate on it due to it melting in my nephews hands so I thought Id give the seats a little Wetvac too.
Also my standard tail pipes are in quite a state and to be honest I think the past rescuing so I've been on the hunt for so idea's had a few tips lying around so I think il get new tips welded on but Im gonna go with mk5 R32 tips but to the side like a GTi has.

Well after a year of owning this I finally bought some R32 Xenon's, I thought about copies but I guess there's no replacement to genuine.
Me and Harvey (Silent Dubber) bought a set of Xenon's the other week but I decided that I don't want a 2nd hand set so I decided to by a Brand new set from Dealers for a small fortune.
I was going to make a new set of wiring looms but ended up buying a kufatec adaptor set. ordered up new bulbs and the rest of the gubbins.
I finally fitted them up today and had them Coded in by Vagwerkes today.
One happy mk5 Owner :)

As the old tail pipes had become very worn, and in a word battered, I managed to sorce some R32 mk5 Tail pipes which measured up around the 3" mark and had them welded on to the back box. Massive thanks to Flowtech in Essex for a cracking Job as usual.
As we all also know brakes on mk5 are not too clever so been thinking about upgrading the brakes, so had a work with a friend and managed to get my hands on a set of 6 pot calipers, how ever Im yet to work out what else I need, thankfully daveb has offered to share his expertise.

Love everything except the indicators... guess it harks back to always wanting to smoke / clear the lenses on older cars I've owned.
Its a marmite thing i guess, plus it was to tie in the side running lights too

Not much to update other than, Sorted out a few snags, Bought the boot release stuff a while back but I never got round to fitting it till last week, went for fit it and ended up in a bit of a pickle do to the Plate where the bolt screws into for the gas strutts dropping on inside the quarter, its a reconised problem at vw appartently but luckily managed to sort it out. all happy days now

Went over to Holland to MIVW Show, which was abcolutly awesome, Car was looking the same on front for a while so Decided to get my Vortex splitter on and have it painted in textured paint to match the rest of the bottom of the car

As some of you know I was looking into replacing the MK5 with some alot more grunt but due to plans on home improvements the mk5's staying, Only problem is everything like the extra's Id put on are now sold :(

@matt112 Matt no word of a life the coilovers on this are quite possibly the best Ive driven on in all my years of cars, so forgiving without compromising ride quality, driving to Austria in in this year and to Holland and its just soaked the Journey up, Depending on Budgets they are well worth the money.

So heres a small update
Luckily in time for Our annual trip to Austria/ Worthersee, managed to complete my ultimate brake package that Ive had in my head for some time, So its now all done and im running Dual Rear Brake Calipers with bigger Discs.
On the way to Austria had a little issue with oil pressure and car displayed a warning which now appears was a problem due to me putting to much oil in the engine, however when i did break down there it was very frustrating that with the midline clocks the information is so limited so after a chat with RetroRaz we sourced some Highline Clocks and got them fitted, and the after speaking to xjay or as I call Him DR Jay lol about a monitoring device of car values etc, decided to go with the Auto Polar Advance so then a lengthy chat with the main man him self Alex at AKS we got one delivered, fitted it up last night and to say im impressed is an understatement does what i need and a whole load more.

I didn mind rebuilding it tbh as for me the most fun I have in building a car is the hustle for bits
Gladen stuff tbh is extremely clear I love it, its a shame I hardly ever drive the car but when I do its good to have decent audio.

That "quick turn around" turns into "well, I'll do this and that while I'm there, but it won't take long" which always ends up "ah, I may as well do EVERYTHING and take my time"...
Glad this beauty is staying though, I think you'd of regretted selling her off at this stage.
