Title: Best lowering springs?
Post by: adam_may on May 08, 2012, 02:49:33 pm
I have a golf 2.0 tdi just wondered what people would recommend as the best lowering springs to get? Any pics of how they sit with gti wheels on would be great too. Thanks Adam

Eibach Sportlines or H&R's. There is a pic on our site of a GTI on sportlines

Obviously though you would want the kit for the 2.0 TDI

Jumping on the thread now, i've seen some people stating they have 35mm H+R springs but the lowest i've seen for the GTI is 30mm,

I'm i missing something?  :stupid:

Not yet.  I just had a quick look at the group buy section and couldn't see anything.  I'd be very interested though!

Do the H&R sit lower than Eibach springs on the GTi?

Yes I think Eibach are 20/25mm and H&R are 30mm.

here is the group buy & fit but its too far for me!  http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,47578.0.html

Sorry to jump on here....but how much would the ride be affected by lowering the car?

If you buy progressive springs the ride will be very much the same as the top of the spring is soft and the rest of the spring is hard (to reduce body roll etc). They only feel harsher on very bumpy roads.

I've got H&R springs BTW  :innocent:

Right im going to go for some H&R springs. Are there different types of H&R springs? Im wanting to keep the comfy ride as much as possible and also wanting to go as low as possible!? Where do people usualy buy theirs from?

There is only one type of H&R springs for the GTI. Try Larkspeed - I got mine from there last year and were the cheapest
