Hi guys,
I've done a search and can't find anything which seems to be the same as my problem with the car.
When I drive my car (Edition 30), it has an extremely lumpy idle; when it is stationary, the whole car judders noticeably (sometimes quite a lot). I've been trying to figure out what it is; I visited John Austin (Colchester) to have them look at it and the diagnostics showed a 'Cylinder 1 misfire' so they replaced the coil packs for me.
After the cylinder 1 coil was sorted, I sat in the car for a minute and there was no problem; it had stopped shaking. However, after just under 10 miles of driving, it has come back.
Has anybody else had similar problems in theirs?
Cheers,
Uz.

Could be another coilpack gone down, I've seen one fail after another a few times. Check with VW if your car is on the list for coilpack replacements for free!

A tuner I know mentioned he's noticed this with several ED30s. He did suggest that I checked my coilpacks were the latest version (recalled), spark plugs were changed recently and a faultless scan. If you've done those three, I wouldn't worry about it! :happy2:

Thanks guys, sorry for the slow reply (have had exams). :scared:
My brother took it into a VW dealer after two specialists failed to diagnose and they told me it was a problem with the injectors and spark plugs, but then gave him a quote of £2000.
I'm not sure what that was, but I was hoping it was only small, and it definitely doesn't look like it. I'll keep you posted if/when I find out.

Sounds a bit mad, seen similar with blocked breather valves/hoses.

Is your PCV ok? this might affect idle.

Either that or check your dipstick and oil cap to ensure they are completely sealed - if everything is working correctly and you open or pull out either of these that will cause a rough lumpy ideal but can also do some damage if left for a long period of time.
