I was on a private runway yesterday playing with wifeys car, sun was shinning & the lights came on
Why is this ?:happy2:
-
I remember reading somewhere that your lights will automatically come on if you do greater than 80mph for more than 30 secs. Never seen it happen in mine Honestly :innocent: :innocent:
-
Mine appear to be quite random too! :surprised:

yeh it does, also tells the police you have been naughty
-
On mine they come on automatically above 160KPH.. 100MPH. :D

I remember Porsche spoilers used to pop up at 80mph and above. On a later model, they put a switch in so it could pop up at lower speeds.
I either turn the lights off or put them to on depending on conditions.

And the Corrado too.. IIRC mine used to raise it's spoiler above 60mph. Quite a tell tail on a lower limit road :driver:
-
Oh this is why they come on :rolleye:
I'll try to figure out which speed etc set's them off
-
Being on the east coast we have lots of old WW2 airfields to play on to try such antic's. I am fortunate to have a private one to play on. I felt it was 100mph it happened. For fear of this thread becoming incriminating may I thank you for you kind responces and happy slow, safe driving to all. Hugs
-
I feel pretty fortunate to have a nearby track to play on too :D -- it's called Germany.
-
If on auto the come on when you go over 140kmph for more than a few seconds - 20 or 30, they will stay on until you have dropped under 40mph for more than 2mins - unless its raining or gets dark in which case that will override the turn off.
-
Yeah its an autobahn safety feature...its all in the manual
-
You can turn that feature off using vcds (vagcom)
-
I find mine fairly random, even at low speeds. Often on the drive to work they come on when the sun is out and I'm not givnig it licks!
-
Is this early in the morning? I think the system compares the inside and outside light reading and can determine if its around sun rise / sunset and can throw the lights on a bit 'early...
-
Yeah my lights seem to have a mind of their own also they seem to be very sensative which can be a right pain at times. Mine also come on when i do over 80mph on the motorway.
-
looks like 80mph on the private road i go down :P
-
mine come on at 80 to. i think its a good feature to be honest. makes people aware your coming
-
:signLOL:
-
Bright sinset or sunrise can confuse it slightly - I dont find it that much of an issue though.

It's about 7:30 in the morning. Sun is fairly bright but low so I guess the interior could be darker.
-
Auto lights are rubbish :angry015: So are the auto wipers :angry015:
-
The auto lights are OK, at least they are always on when its dark (far too early sometime...) unlike the stupid wipers that are no where near sensitive enough
-
Mine work great :P
-
The autolights work fine on mine. tested them 2 days ago and they do come on at higher speeds
first car I have had with auto lights (except hire cars abroad) and I think they are a great idea. just another little thing you do not have to think about
-
I'm happy with the autolights. As for the autowipers - if it starts to rain, I switch them on and leave them to do their job.
-
My lights seem a bit strange they came on today when it was sunny ( i was doing slightly over 70 lol) but then stayed on all the way home including going through 40 mph and 30 mph limits at the correct legal speeds.
They are often on when its bright too, without doing illegal speeeds
Do i have a problem with them or not ?
-
mine play up at times and its the rain senor or wiper stalk as they are all in the same circuit

....Fortunately this happens only if your Automatic headlight control is switched on, which I never switch on.
Under the heading "Automatic headlight control" my 2005 (leather bound) Handbook says:
"The motorway function switches on the dipped headlights if the vehicle is driven at 140 km/h for longer than 10 seconds. The dipped headlights are switched off if the vehicle is driven at 65 km/h for longer than 150 seconds."

....I prefer having my LED DRL's, which automatically come on with ignition and I don't have to think about, to headlights telling others how fast I am driving.
