Title: Gearstick knob / gaitor removal, that nasty clip.

Anyone got any tips on how to remove that horrible little clip that goes round the plastic collar of the gear knob? Sure I've seen a good pictorial thread on here but struggling to find it.

Not sure if it's the same but I'm sure when Darren changed the one in my GT TDI to a GTI one, he just unclipped the surround and pulled the gearstick up without actually removing the clip

I had changed my TDi to a GTi DSG gear lever and surround,will have dig at the method I did the swap if you don't mind waiting.

I just used some cable clippers...
