Hi guys I myself am very interested in going ahead with a ko4 conversion this summer on my GTI and came across this great piece on JKM breaking it all down.

Any big difference in noise with the ko4?

no difference in noise in my view, however my car is already noisy with Milltek and engine and gear box mounts fitted,
K04 spools higher up the rev range and it's much more noticeable in reality then on RR graph! You find yourself driving on lower gears to get the best out of it

The k04 turbo is also a louder turbo so spooling should be louder

I am getting excited about the prospect of Ko4 too! how long does it usually take to complete?
-
Not that long really, a day for the turbo swap and probably a day to get it mapped

Took me 13 hours to fit the turbo and injectors, I did wonder if it would be worth it and what I would break fitting it but it was sure worth it.
The continuous pull and smile factor is well worth the sore back I got whilst fitting it.
