We all know that the list never seems to get any smaller but I would actually like to get to the point when I have finished modding so that a.) can maybe save a bit towards a new car and b.) spend more on detailing products to maintain it.
At moment have whittled the list down to -
Twintercooler
Leather Armrest
RVC
MFSW
Highline with Polar FIS
Xenons
Pescaras or VZ
So not too bad I suppose but a good £2500-3000k there I guess so will take me over 12 months I reckon.
Whats on your list and do you think it will ever be down to zero? Will you have retired by the time you have finished modding? :signLOL:
-
once your finished with that list, you will find lots more to do !! it just never ends !!
My list goes as follows:
RNS-510
Bluetooth
Milltek non-res cat back
Intake
Lowering springs, maybe Eibachs
VMR710's
Full pro detail

I will have these soon....I hope :innocent:
1) ITG Maxogen.

Also below are some track mods I was contemplating for a Long time...but I'm not going down this route anymore.
I don't do enough trackdays tbh.

The car is well spec'd but im still on "antique" satnav. I dont do many retrofits.
-
Luckily my car was very well spec'd from new (xenons, full DIS, MFSW etc and then had full Ed30 kit and wheels). I've added a cat back Miltek and just bought 19" BBS CH.
Shopping list now stands at
H&R Lowering springs or 2nd hand coilovers
uprated ARB rear.. maybe front
uprated sound system
uprated brakes
cold air intake

....I retired many years before I even bought my GTI new in 2005.
You think that you have finished modding but then you read about something on this forum! It's a very slippery slope and even after 100,000 miles it hasn't ended in spite of me thinking it had.

@ MC:
*cough* Your list seems to include most the mods I have fitted in the last 6 years! You are a man of impeccable taste

what's the weight saving for carbon bonnet?
Paul
-
what's the weight saving for carbon bonnet?
Paul
....That's something I should know but have forgotten :ashamed: IIRC it's about 12lb / 6kg weight saving but needs checking/confirming. < OSIR weighs 7 kg and OEM 13.8 kg, so 6.8 kg weight saving.
OSIR carbon bonnet (like mine) is double skin and so a bit heavier than single skin versions but both are considerably lighter than OEM steel of course. You would definitely be wise to fit bonnet catches when carbon, especially on single skin.

RR :signLOL: May well take 6 years mate, hardest thing is deciding on what to do first. If that's all I have to worry about, I'm a lucky chap I suppose!

....The great thing about it taking time is that you get to appreciate better what each mod does and its benefits. I did exhaust first because I came from a BMW straight-six with a lovely sound and think of it as a driving aid. Then first stage of handling mods followed by remap, very quickly followed by brakes!

There's a WALK in the car parts section :innocent:

I'm not going to bother modding mine , its staying standard. The reason being is that Im on a budget , car wise , and cant save towards a replacement car while spending money on my current one. I will be getting the wheels refurbed (17s) , new wheel centre badges and replacing my whitewormy rear hatch handle this year , along with having my mirror caps sprayed to get rid of a few scuffs. Thats about it! Not very exciting , but at least I will be keeping my car in decent nick in its 7th year.
-
Here's mine:
- Rear drop links or ARB bushes (to cure knocking)
- Newsouth boost gauge (vent pod & no buzz)
- Sachs clutch & flywheel
- Tinted rear windows
- cam belt & water pump
- LED number plate bulbs
- Cruise control
- S3 short shifter
- pipewerx downpipe & sports cat
- WALK
- Autotech Rear Anti Roll Bar (maybe)
- linear throttle map (R-Tech)
Will tackle that lot over the next 2years :happy2:
Graeme
-
what's the weight saving for carbon bonnet?
Paul
IIRC carbon OSIR bonnet is 7kg and stock is 13.8kg.
VWRacing did some dryformed carbon ones at 4.5kg :surprised:
-
My list is simply a MKVII Golf at the moment.
F**k knows how long the shopping list will be!! :rolleye:

I presume it would be very long and the total would match the price tag of car itself!

I'm not sure if it was you or me who pushed Saint Steve over the modding slippery slope, but you have to admire him for the length of time he held on to the edge :signLOL:
All will fall in the end!

It all started with a poppycoral carbon air freshener lol

Bought my ED30 with NO intention whatsoever to mod a single thing, found this forum a month later and that straight away purchased a WALK kit. Didn't really even know what it was or how it worked, was just "convinced" it was needed. I truly believe that Jedi Mind Tricks are at play on this forum.
