Yeah, 15,500 miles in a year! MoT was last Thursday with no advisories.

I presume your looking for lower miles tho. and from a GTI, not a GT TDi. No worries, I'll get my coat. :happy2:

My missus' Polo 1.0L used to average 1000-1400 miles a year between MOTs. I got her an Edition30 and this has done 4500 miles in its first year, I have been 'borrowing' it a little at the weekends though. Funny as I never used to 'borrow' the Polo at all...

I really dont understand why people buy a car, goto the expense of tax and insurance for only 2k or so per year. It would be cheaper to just get a taxi. A car is for driving not for looking at,  :stupid:

Perhaps some people enjoy it for what it is, rather then driving it everywhere? Not everyone is the same.

I do about 5000 a year. Live 1 mile from work and I still drive otherwise I wouldnt use the ED30 more than twice a week!!

1000 miles a year

Love that. Have you had the car from new? No one will believe you when you come to sell it with so few miles on board! :signLOL:  :happy2:

I would rather wave at the Taxi man and hand him a tenner as he passes rather than sit on his puke stained seats  , it's one of the many reasons some people have a car so they dont have to endure rely on public transport  :happy2:

Last time I took a bus it was for a 2.5 mile journey to go pick up my car from the night before, the bus driver took me for nearly £3!!!, petrol is expensive these days but jesus h christ, paying £3 for a bus lurching from one stop to the next to get you to your destination approx area (well a bus stop some half a mile from where you left your car anyway!), no thanks!  :happy2:

Mmmmmm, let me think 997 or use a taxi to go everywhere for my thrills! Doh

And the idiot remark of the day goes to ..........(please fill in the blank )

I bought my GTI in Sept 2010 with 37500 on the clock , its now sitting just over 49000. Last years service was carried out on June 2nd 2011 and by then it was sitting on 42200 , so it looks as though I will have done about 7000 in the year between services. Looking through the service book , my car did 10500 in its first year , 4800 in its second , 12000 in its 3rd , 10000 in its fourth , 5000 in its fifth and as I say is on course for 7000 in its sixth. It has had 4 owners before me so you can see their vehicle useage varied somewhat!  :driver:

10k in 10 months in the GTI

my grandad died a few months ago, had a 2002 plate corsa, as he was ill and didnt drive for so long the car has 7000 miles on it from new, every year serviced and mot'd!

^^^^ similar thing, my mum passed away 4 years ago, didn't drive for 3 years before that and her V Reg 206 xsi (which she had from new) has about 19000 miles on it. My old man kept the car for the family to use when our cars are in the garage etc. Car has done 253 miles between services, I looked it up today. Oh cracking little motor as well!

My Dad retired 8 years ago and kept his van (Bedford Rascal) just used it to go to the dump. Did 400 miles in 8 years , passed MOT every year , never serviced covered in rust and during its last year it was stolen due to it being easy to steal ! Ran out of petrol 2 miles from dads house ! He had it from 1995 at a year old and had it serviced once because it was free !
Got £180 for it when i drove it to the scrap yard end of last year
