anyone fitted one ? if so how do you remove the airbag ?
-
The airbag is easy to remove. Ideally disconnect battery, then look behind the steering wheel with a mirror. You will see two U shaped metal hooks, one either side of the hub. Slide these off the lugs and the airbag will spring out of place. There is a big plug that connects it to the centre of the wheel.
It goes without saying though, make sure there is absolutely no static in the car as you don't want a broken nose!!!
Don't forget you'll then have an airbag warning light on your dash, unless this can be cancelled by removing the fuse(?).
Why do you want to replace the 'wheel though? I think it is the best part of the car.

just fancied a change . thanks for the info tho mate

I need to fit a new steering wheel, the car I have has obviously been driven by someone who likes sharp jewellery, but don't have the confidence to change it myself, heard that garages do it really cheap.

Removing the fuse will still trigger an airbag fault. You need to use vagcom to reprogram it
