Title: Mk5 GTI 3DR Speaker change 'how-to'
Post by: dry664 on May 11, 2012, 01:37:07 pm
Hi,
Does anyone know where I can fina a guide on changing speakers on a 3dr MK5 GTI? Im a complete novice to car audio but pretty handy with a screwdriver so would like to try it myself. Reckon I can take care of the fronts (had the door panels off to change some damaged trim) but I assume the rears are a little more complicated. Thanks

Pretty simple really.......had to change a couple of mine the weekend.

- Drill < you will need this to remove the rivets.

Simple a case of unplugging, replacing and re-rivetting.

If you look at after market speakers, you may need to get some speaker adaptors (below)

What's your reason for wanting to change them?

If you are leaving your factory radio or not at the very least upgraded to a RCD510 or RNS510.

The factory radio, has poor sound at best.
