Title: Fitting MDI Kit in tandem with Bluetooth kit?? **solved**
Post by: jason_rmh on May 13, 2012, 07:05:27 am
I have fitted a 5n0 bluetooth kit and also want to fit the MDI kit.
I have the kufatec MDI fitting loom and a plug and play bluetooth loom.

What confuses me is that the kufatec kit appears to have a blanking plug on the quad lock connector and doesnt have the pins to connect to the rest of the loom.

Quadlock from car and Bluetooth kit looks like this:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fax_jas%2FGolf_TDI_R32_Replica%2FDSCF5269.jpg&hash=eadd55ed887fa0255076a9167f23cebf61d3473d)

Quadlock from Kufatec MDI kit looks like this:
(https://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fdaz.co%2Fmedia%2Fax_jas%2FGolf_TDI_R32_Replica%2FDSCF5262.jpg&hash=ba4372ce195bf7300e484046d97948a67abaae32)

Which order should these looms be connected?
Is there a way to remove the blue blanking plug? WOuld it make a difference if I did?
(You can see where I have tried to pull the blue blanking plug out)

eg.
HEAD UNIT -- >  MDI LOOM -- > BLUETOOTH LOOM -- > CAR LOOM

Thanks
Jason

The order doesn't matter.  CAN is a data bus so it'll have multiple (Multiplexed) signals on one cable.

Although it doesn't matter, just make sure the loom that plugs into the stereo has the wires to for the other loom.

some MDI looms I have seen haven't had the wires for the Telephone

That's what prompted my question. The blanking plate will not allow the  connections. The wires are there tho.
Will have a better look later and report back.

I'm afraid it's a bit of a problem with these Plug and Play looms that seem to be popular now.  They aren't always fully populated.

I have Car + Bluetooth > MDI loom > Blaupunkt PnP loom > RNS510

Works fine here.

Yes, as Stu knows, it was a pain in the arse to stuff all the looms back behind the 510! :happy2:
