No I've not jumped shipped. Colleague wants to buy one but there's very little info out there at the moment.
Has anyone heard much about this car?

Just what i've seen on the top gear web site:

Is that the coupe version that Subaru got in bed with Toyota, its too much like a Hyundai coupe.
It seems a big shame Subaru have never moved with the times ,great in the mk1 shape,I was lucky to get an Sti 8 version with the Prodrive enhancements some years ago.

There's loads of info. Massive review in this months Evo for a start.
I personally can't get my head around them.
-
I just got an email about these from my local Subaru dealer! Im sure they had one on preview a while ago as I had an invite to go see it!
-
is it as fast as a meg :signLOL:
-
This & last months Evo mag.

It's meant to be quite good, tho popular opinion says the Toyota looks better
I think they look the same personally (mainly because they are the same lol)
-
Journo's seem to say the Toyota is much more driver focussed too.
I get it, in bucketfulls!
-
I love the idea, 200 bhp rear wheel drive for 25k, if you don't need a hatch then why buy any hot hatch over this?

Off the shelf goodies

Re: the video above, I don't know what Subaru are doing sending a slushbox to EVO - it's always going to get panned.
-
It just looks underpowered to me. Looks good as an "on the limit" car, but still compromised by little torque. The review in Evo seems to support this.
Also think both cars are a missed opportunity in the looks department, although the photos don't get over the size of the thing too well.

POWER!
I'd have the Meg personally.
-
Not sure if the link on mikes post relates to this but Gazoo in Japan have twin charged that Toyoburu engine now to give it 320bhp/310lb ft of torque! Should be drift city now

200bhp is plenty for the road unless slip roads are your thing :signLOL:

It's very similar to a VTEC though in that the power only comes in way up the rev range. Likewise with the torque. I like a bit of waftability.

As do I in a daily, but na is way better as a drivers tool IMO

Some quotes from Evo: grips too well, fundamental lack of performance, nasty engine, little urgency, no accelerative spark, teeth-gnashingly awful sound, performance is limp.
It's the torque figure (159 lb ft @ 6400 - 6600rpm) that means it doesn't offer the accessible performance people were hoping for.

Chris Harris seemed to like it :booty:

I don't think he's drove it in the UK.

He has driven it a few times now I am sure of it

The GT86 in Spain is the only review I have read from Chris Harris. You can prove me wrong...

The quotes from evo would be relevant wherever you drove it, anyway each to their own, like I said, I love the idea and reviews are great but tbh I doubt I would notice any of these things as I can't drive like the boys from evo, all I know is, I prefer na to turbo and rwd to fwd, and for the money sounds good to me :happy2:

i work for a scooby dealer--might have a good look at it when it comes in
