Further speculation around a Polo R model im sure with VW showing this at Worthersee.

At Wörthersee, Volkswagen will be presenting for the first time a preview of an extremely sporty small series, which is due to be launched in late 2013. With its highly unique and distinctive design, this model cuts an impressive figure with its rear spoiler, diffuser, sports suspension and an inscription with R-WRC logos. A powerful 220 PS 2.0-litre TSI engine produces motorsport-like performance.

looks like an Audi A1 but i like it in a 5 year old boy way.
If i were 18 i'd buy one. Unfortunately i'm twice as old as that and therefore would look a plonker in one plus my wife would divorce me and i'd probably never ever see my son and cats again other than that count me (not) tempted :laugh:

Well I'm an OAP and I would have one if I was going for a small 3-door hatchback. Much better than any Ford.

I doubt the graphics would make production. It will be like the rest of the R models. So bearing in mind im 31 (32 soon) and driving a Polo GTI, you wouldnt look that odd.

They would most likely use the IHI turbo version from the Mk6 GTI/Scirocco GT.
But it would still fly, and after a remap it would be immense. Hope they make some chassis/braking mods. Looks like a Renaultsport style steering wheel as well!! :drool: :jumpmove:

With them putting in a 2.0 TSI we should see a manual gearbox option as well. Ooooooh, im excited. Really cant see me being able to stop myself ordering one of these next year!!

I dont think it would be 4wd or K04. The WRC version is a 1.6TSI with 300PS. Homologation rules no longer apply, so the road going version doesnt have to be anything like the Rally car.

Volkswagen is previewing its upcoming VW Polo R with this new VW Polo WRC Street at the Worthersee tuning festival in Austria.
The new model, created especially for the VW Group-organised tuning festival, will go on sale before the end of 2013 as a limited-run special.
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbocharged and supercharged TSI engine with 217bhp. That’s more than the 208bhp produced by the hot Polo’s larger Golf GTI sibling.
The Polo WRC Street is, as the name suggests, a production model inspired by VW’s entry into the World Rally Championship in 2013. VW insiders have confirmed the Polo R WRC rally car will also go on to inspire a full-blown R version of the Polo road car. The WRC Street is a forerunner to this car.
Setting the Polo WRC Street apart from its more humble siblings is a bodykit that includes a boot spoiler and rear diffuser, plus a more aggressive front-end and larger alloys. R-WRC badges also feature both inside and out.
Not sure what to make of it now. If its only a limited run model, ill definitely hold out for the proper Polo R.

maybe purposefully done in order to look from distance like the type of ride height WRC cars commonly have (on non 100% tarmac rallies)?

I reckon that would be a good 280-300 bhp with a remap :evilgrin: even better if it remains FWD as the weight will be similar to the regular GTI. :drool:
I'd guess it would have the option of the 6 speed wet plate gerarbox too. :jumping:

This was taken from the official VW press release Rich. Apparently according to AutoCAR it will be a limited edition run pre-ceeding the proper Polo R.

Nice that they let the apprentices have a play. Was reading the article about this one. Looks like they slappes some Audi S-line rims on with colour coded centres and polished rims. Dont really think they suit the Mk6 though. Brakes are :drool:

They look like 911 turbo brembos... like TFSI Mikes got.

They are less curved than the Porsche brembos. Look bigger too!! Notice the apprentices fitted the same brakes to front and rear. I bet that will be balanced. :surprised:

Seems that a few publications seem to be getting confused about the lump being super and turbocharged.
Hopefully some engine pics will come out of Worthersee to show they are misinformed.
