Title: No service indicator, no highline menu, etc. All highline parts though!?
Post by: Luka on May 17, 2012, 10:52:10 pm
I don't seem to have a service indicator on my GTI. I've tried resetting it this evening with VCDS but it just keeps saying there is no response from the controller.

I've just put a new cluster in from a US Jetta(Midline to Highline), not sure if this affects it at all. Copied the coding from my old cluster to this one. Anyone with any ideas? I have a feeling the cluster isn't coded properly.

Could it be that since you've disconnected the battery (my assumption) you may have to do some mileage before you see the next service indication. It's  bit like when your dealer reset the service interval at service time the ecu doesn't give you when the next service is due in the mfd till you do about 50-100 miles

I'd done over 150 miles on the new cluster when I started the thread, so don't think it's that.

I've found that the highline menu doesn't work either. I've fitted a MAX CCCM and a 30 byte CECM today and they haven't cured the problem. I guess it must be down to the coding? Also, with fogs sets a DRLs, I get the little green fog symbol on the speedo! Really not sure what's up with this. I've spent hours today trying to sort it!

Sorry I can't help but I suggest you post this in our vcds forum in the first instance for more focused advice.

After doing the cluster swap (copy and paste method in commander?) did you reset the cluster?

Have you coded it with your old coding figure to make it UK etc?

No, didn't reset the cluster after the copy and paste. I have entered the coding for GB, which came out as 0003403. I've enabled the oil level sensor in 039 too.

In the commander copy/paste menu there should be a reset button, try that.

It's a reboot effectively, not a data wipe

Just tried the reset button too, no joy. Can't think which other coding could be preventing this from working. Any other coding that needs to be done in the CCCM/CECM? Or anything else I could try? Does it matter that the cluster is from a US Jetta?

I have US spec clocks, no such issues.

I would put your old clocks in and see if the problem still persists.

How do you get the service indicator?

I have a highlinene dash with MFSW and I can't see any service options
