Post by: biGTIme on May 18, 2012, 12:58:49 am
Hello guys,

Newbie here. Ok..satnav/stereo locked after battery replacement, code screen came up, looking in my booklet ful of accumulated s hit from previous owner, punched in the code...nothing. Next day went to vw and they plugged there gear in..still nothing. Two coffees later the teck comes back and tells me the code is not being accepted for some reason. Wtf is going on? What are my options?

05 gti with cd changer and nav

Any input will be much appreciated

Thanks,

Cant the dealer supply you with the code? might have to pay a cost. There will be a back up procedure for this sort of situation.

I'm sure I've read somewhere that if there are problems with the radio code, etc. then VW will supply a new code free of charge? Also, have you tried finding a generator on the internet and acquiring a code with the radio serial number?

Thanks for replies.  The head unit is original and the code matches with everything, its just not being accepted. Vw luckily done the above for free but did not offer anymore help. Are there any third parties around that are able to reprogramme if even possible? Really piss ING me off. Has anyone gone through a back up process?

Thanks,

If it was an original stereo changing out the battery wouldn't have put it into safe mode.  VW probably looked up the correct code by looking up the chassis number (i.e the code for the factory supplied stereo).

Are you absolutely sure its the original stereo?
