need to change mine. for those that have done this. Can you tell me how you have refitted them? Did you use rivits or screws if so what sizes ?
-
Are you trying to get speakers that give more bass?
-
just a straight forward swap. Just want to know size riviots or screw people have used
-
Which speakers did you get? Will they give more bass then standard?
-
Thhe standard VW bass speaker in the front door is dead. So managed to get another.........standard one.
Before taking the whole door panel off etc. and drilling out the old rivets I want to make sure I have something to refix the speaker back in. Just wondered what everyone else have used? screws of rivets.
Really just need to know
RIVET SIZE?
SCREW SIZE?
-
Not sure on the size but you will need rivets to refit, you wont be able to get anything for the screws to bit into. The important size for the rivet will be to have something flush with the hole so just take your new speaker along and find something that fits nicely in the holes :happy2:
-
:happy2: Have the speaker, was going to just get a rivet that fit the hole, was just worried about lenght etc.
screw wise was just going to get a small nut and bolt - been advised over time these could come loooose + rattle.
-
you also dont have much room to get behind the speaker so threading nuts would be a right pain and in some places impossible best bet is to go for rivets, you will be able to see pictures of the rivets that vw supplied in my build thread from when I retro fitted my speakers, should also help as a guide. :happy2:

You dont have a part number for them? or did they come with the speaker?
You have the upgraded speaker dont you? you let me know you ever wish to let them go
-
they came with the kit im afraid so no part number, I do indeed the kits are as rare as to find now.
-
was looking around for months - only found one kit on ebay but only for the rear (and a 3 door)
