Title: Sunglasses time
Post by: johnhol78 on May 23, 2012, 06:29:12 pm
Well the time has come to ditch the old specs and get some new prescription sunglasses.

Sister found a great site glasses called eyewearbrands

Thinking some ray ban aviators personally though fear the Goose comparisons

So come on people let's see what you wearing....

I have aviators with a mirror lense

Bought them in Ibiza in 2009 after the cheap glasses I got from the local shops started melting with the heat.

They are still perfect and kept in my car for sunny days

.
I've got prescription vario-focal and polarized Oakleys:

They're limited edition grey and red frames. can't find a pic right now but will post one later.

Being vario-focal it takes care of sharp focus on both the car's instrument displays and the road ahead.

Although lightly mirrored they let in a lot of light and colouration remains very natural. I've had Bolle and liked them but the Oakleys are my best so far.

I wear Oakleys, have various pairs .

Have 2 pairs of Juliet's, 1 pair is gen 1 X-Metal with Ruby lenses (Rare), other pair is Plasma frame with Gold Iridium lenses.
Penny X- Metal, VR28 Iridiums,
Romeo 1 X-Metal, black Iriduim lenses ( v rare and expensive now),
XX X-Metal, black iridiums and spare purple lenses.
Monster Dog, crystal black frame with black iridiums.
and finally (I think), a pair of Fuel Cell, polished clear with Violet Iridiums.

I used to wear Ray-Ban Aviators but had an accident on my bike and the metal frame just missed my eye. So it was plastics from then on. Classic shape though and a nice big lens.

I LOVE the Aviator glasses  :happy2: Unfortunately I'd look sexier in those joke glasses.  :sad1:

Ive tried loads of aviator style glasses…. ray ban, police, boss etc. They just don't suit me.  :booty:

I think they are to rounded for me.

These are my Lacoste gigs…..

....Oh no! Oakley know exactly what they are doing and their technology is world leading  :notworthy: It's not just the 'brand label' which makes them expensive.

I have to say, I'm not bothered about polarised lenses. I have some in a pair of Police sunglasses and although the difference is noticeable I find it hard to rave about them.

....I don't have a diagnosed condition but I can suffer from double vision followed by migraine and brought on by sudden bright light. I hate fluorescent light too. I find that the polarised lenses help reduce that liklihood and I'm glad to say that I haven't had a migraine for several years now.

Randolph Aviator

Been using these for approx' 15 years and would highly recommend. I use the Non-polarised (green tint) with bayonet temples. I was given these as a present  by my father when I started my PPL Licence (he has used various pairs of these for years) and also use them in the car. Not sure if it's true but he said these are standard issue for the NASA astronauts (sounds good anyway, when peeps ask!)
Oh and only around the £100 Mark as well so not to bad!

Holbrooks are massive though. I tried a pair and they just looked daft.

Incidentally, I reckon every F1 driver at the moment wears Holbrooks around the paddock.

I remember when Oakleys made their first appearance in the peleton of professional cycling. I think they still are considered the height of cool. Bolle were cool too.
