Title: Finally some photos
Post by: Tortaruga on May 23, 2012, 07:12:55 pm
I had to get her polished :popcornsoda:

For some reason I think the 17's on red 5 doors specifically look better than 18's. On any other colour/door combo I think 18's are better.
The car in the background is a 1.6FSI, same month/year/colour...it has MFSW, park assist & centre armrest...I only have a KO3 :sad1:.

My first day out I was rapidly overtaken on a little B-road by two lads racing - one in a Fiesta ST and the other in an old MR2. :happy2:
Second day some bloke in a Cupra R blew me away at the lights. :indifferent:

Think I need some driving lessons!

Looks Mint

Do all Gti leathers have red stitching?

.
You don't want to be worried about guys racing you or each other or traffic lights grand prix's - Get caught doing that and it gets very serious: Ban, future insurance difficulties, loss of job possibly, etc. Simply not worth it.

If you want to learn to improve your fast driving skills do a day with Big John @ Drivetrain - It'll remap your brain.

I was told by the dealer it was a special order. I've never seen another one with red stitching. 'Tis very nice IMHO!

Have u been on a dyno to see if its making the right power?

A split DV can go un-noticed for a while and is quite a common problem with the earlier diaphragms. They are cheap to update to the latest version and could end up transforming your car

Have a search on the forum. :happy2:

Cheers for the advice:

I've not been near a dyno. I presume it won't be making 200PS as it's 5 years old. What should it be making??
I'll check the DV myself when I next have her on the ramps. If it's torn I'll get a rev D piston jobby...although I thought MY07 had the newer DV's fitted?

Nice looking Tornado you have there, very nice.
Get it down to a decent dyno and check the power, they should also carry out a diagnostic check for faults.

Welcome.

And don't rush to keep up with idiots - it's easier to keep an eye on them when they're in front of you.

Welcome along  :signLOL: I got to admit I don't normally get roped into light racing but the odd occasion I do....stupid but we've all done it

....Very true! I avoid the chavvy types or those whose driving seems dangerous but matching someone's speed (at a safe braking distance) and making progress in a convoy of two, where you always allow each other space for tucking back in etc can be extremely satisfying. It's a kind of friendly play and you allow each other to overtake and swop places - It's not actually a race but just a shared spirited drive. I had a TT tempt me into a play recently and I responded but I immediately dropped out when I realised it was a girlie driving because I didn't want her to think I was hassling her just because she was female. What worries me about having what I think is a responsible play is that Police could view it as racing and I could get a ban.

A few years ago when I first had my GTI, I was overtaken by a very pretty brunette woman driving a black M3 who was pressing on - She had a sticker in her back window which read "Does My Arse Look Too Fat In This?"  :notworthy:

Brilliant! The thing with me is I don't really back out, once im committed I feel like I can't back out  :stupid: then it goes to the point where you know you should stop,Someone can get hurt, wreck the car.....then the moment you have a fright like back end steps, see a police car etc and you think to yourself..."if something happened and someone dies or gets very badly injured there is absolutely no way I can explain why I was doing it, just being pure stupid I could take ones life......
That type of thinking works for me now thank God and I rarely do it, I still have a play with the big boys tho on the odd "private" road.don't spend all this money for nothing   :driver:
Im pretty tame now tho and half the time im too busy listening to my ITG to even care   :innocent:
