Drives footwell right handside
-
have heard some are loacted under the ash tray and also behind the glovebox
-
depending on the year of the car, on 2008 onwards it would be deep behind the glove box. You can get better access from engine bay but need to take off wiper engine etc and there is a little tray and it's there behind it.

Such happy memories. Upside-down in the footwell with a torch in my mouth, :-)
It was still a right pain to get to on my 2007 model as it was behind loads of wiring and plastic.
There are some good images on here somewhere of how to get to it from the engine bay.

I've been in that position when changing the pollen filter and when changing the glovebox light. Car was garaged at the time.

Easy way to do it. Take the tray off to the right of the wheel, just pulls off. Then remove the large panel under the steering. Then unhook / unhitch the tray with all the fuses / relays behind the tray and pull it to one side. The Gateway will be behind that and very easy to get to. From memory that is what I did. Otherwise, if you lucky, it will be above where the clutch pedal is.

It's the one inside the car under the steering wheel, comes across to the right and holds that tray I mentioned. Whereabouts are you based? If you close enough, I can give you a hand if you pop round.

The Gateway can be 3 possible locations
1. Behind the ashtray (MY2004)
2. Above The clutch Pedal (MY2005 & MY2006)
3. Behind the Relay carrier plate (MY2007 - Current)
behind the Ashtray
Pull on Gearknob Gaitor, You will see 2 T20 Torxs screws, remove these and lift
Unplug the ESP and 12v
Look for a RED PLUG at the back
Unplug it and remove, nip the lugs on the back and pull towards you
Above The clutch Pedal
Undo the 2x Torx screws of the drivers footwell trim and lower it down.
The Cubby bin under the light switch, nip the sides in and pull it towards the drivers seat. You will see a Torx screw that holds the lower duct pipes in place, remove the screw and pull the ducting out.
The gateway will be up and look for the RED Plug
Unplug it
Prise the Plastic holder away from the metal frame with a slotted screwdriver
and remove it with the gateway in place.
Change the gateway over and reset the plastic rivet which held the holder in place.
And refit it
Behind the Relay carrier
Remove the Cubby bin under the light switch
Unclip the relay carrier and move to one side
Look at the back for the RED PLUG
Unplug it and lift the gateway out
refit new gateway
