Title: Pollen filters
Post by: Panthera on May 24, 2012, 05:55:50 pm
There is a horrible smell, kind of like corn/wheat grasses type smell coming out of the vents and when I put the A/C on its worse then does clear. But no the less, still horrible. So I am going to replace the pollen filter, have the A/C re gassed/cleaned and then buy one of those A/C cleaners to clean out the vents.

Do I buy a OEM VW pollen filter or buy something like my friend recommended me  Puravent upgraded filter - /www.puravent.co.uk/filters/display_filter.php?id=110&part=M2225

Also Aircon cleaning and re-gassing, VW or specialist?

Cheers

Darren

I'm thinking about the aircon thing at the mo but OEM pollen filter isn't expensive or particularly difficult to swap out.

If the air con is working I think I would get one of the air con sanitizer spray cans... all you do is take the the pollen filter out run the system on fully cold with the re- circulation button on... set the can off and close the doors (get out first) give it 5 mins job done... then fit a new OEM pollen filter if it was me... Do mine every year after a guy told me that bacteria lurks within the systems  :happy2:

That's the thing I was thinking of - the air con cleaner.  You all say get the filter from VW rather than the item I posted in the link from puravent. Is there a VW carbon version? whats the part code any one know?
