..... please, please check your space saver tyre pressure too. I had mine checked today after I got a puncture and it was at 30PSI
It should be 60PSI or 4.15bar in old money.
Thanks :happy2:

Good shout as when I had to put mine on it was 28psi. It looked good when I got it out the boot but once I dropped the jack the weight of the car soon showed me it weren't

Saw this reminder not so long ago on another thread. Good call. Mine was 25 :scared:

Have never checked, just assumed it would be at correct pressure!! :ashamed:

It's an easy one to forget.
I has a puncture on my old mk5. Once I put the space saver on that was under inflated, it lasted all of about 3 miles before it ripped itself to bits. Because the tyre is so thin it's imperative that it's at the correct pressure.
I then had to fight with the RAC because they said it was my fault for not maintaining a spare wheel/tyre... They tried to charge me the best part of £200 to get me home.

You would be surprised how many don't get checked on a service at the dealers
-
i always keep a 12V tyre inflater with me
if i've got a slow puncture i'd much rather refill my full size wheel than use that dangerous rubber band
-
I had a blow 160mls from home no tyres the right size near where I was so drove 160mls on space saver no issues was amazed the car didnt feel much different mostly motorway though.

Not checked mine in the 1.5 years I've had the GTI...goes off to check.
Good call :happy2:

I would have thought mine was cheked as the last service but I guess I should also do it my self anyway.

I need to check the spare on my van. Never once looked at it in the 8 months I've had it! Thanks for the heads up.

I sure many of ours (min included) have not been checked since coming out of Wolfsburg!

just checked all 4 tyres and the spare. rears needed a slight top up and the spare was fine so must have been correctly inflated when i bought the car from the stealers last summer :happy2:

Huh? I checked in my boot and all I found was a battery. I kicked it a few times, seemed hard enough so I'm assuming it's the correct PSI.
I've had that sickening punch in the gut of lowering a jack only to see the tyre squish to nothing. Luckily I had a tyre inflator.
